As much as I dislike the middle name Marie, I actually really like it with Violet. It's something exciting with something boring. Whereas if you have two exciting names, it gets too pretentious or out there.

I like old-fashioned names that don't sound like old-lady names, if that makes sense. There are some old-fashioned names I can't envision on a kid (Edith, Agnes, Ethel - though I actually once met a toddler named Ethel, cutest child I'd ever seen, but the name still sounds like an old lady to me), but some I really like (Eleanor, Emma, Amelia, Violet).
