I just got back from the grocery store and my cashier's name-tag read:

DAWNUELL

I almost asked how it was pronounced, but I'm assuming Dawn-yell.

WDYT?

Gah!

That reminds me of someone I graduated with, whose name I just remembered this morning, actually. His name was Samuyell. His mother apparently spelled it that way because she thought it would force the pronunciation "sam-yoo-ELL." Maybe she was still heavily drugged at that point, I don't know...

ahh that is so annoying, because if she really wanted to do that why not Samyuell? I read Samuyell as "sam-oo-YELL"

It was great hearing the substitute teachers try to figure it out. "Samma...Samoy...Summoo...Sam...Sam? Is Sam here?"
