These past few weeks Ive been trying to make my long list into a short list of all time favorite names. Ive gone through my books and looked at all the names Ive liked over the years and consistantly. But I still need some help. Here are the lists as short as I can make them. I love all of your names except Wendy-but its because I only knew 1 wendy and she was a not-so-nice lady and i always think of her when i hear that name :p

My fave boys names from your lists are Caleb, Connor and William (Caleb is my fave of those names, I'd love to use it myself but my husband doesn't like it for some reason!) For a girl I like Evie and Ellie as nicknames, and also Olivia and Lydia.

Boys:

Austin- I dont particuarly like it, it's another one of those place names.
Blake- This just shouts out 'i didnt know what to call my kid so.. i came up with the most emotionless boring name i could think of!'
Cole*- It's okay but it's a bit of a modern not-quite-name
Carter*- Another not-quite-name surname type feeling
Caleb*- I like this.
Connor- Love it
Noah- I like it but not my style.
Nolan*- I know lots of people with this as a surname
Tyler- hmmm no it's a bit common in my view, not meaning popular.
William*- I dont like this name at all, a bit posh & boring.

Girls: (a bit longer than the boys)

Anna- beautiful classic, now i really should like William if i like Anna, but i dont!
Addison (Addy)*- Blah...
Caroline- Hate it.
Ella*- Very cute, but gaining popularity.
Eleanore (nn: Ellie or Nora)- I dont like either nn, so i would just stick with Ella.
Ellen (nn: Elle)- I dont like Ellen at all, but i do like Elle
Evelyn (nn: Evie)- Lovely name & nn.
Felicity *- I absolutely loooove Felicity, always have. Quite pretentious though, but i'm still considering it.
Kathleen- middle ages womans name.
Lara- I prefer Laura, Alara. Don't know why.
Lydia- Lovely, like Anna.
Madeleine- Love it.
Nora*- Dislike a lot.
Olivia- Beautiful
Wendy- Why why why! this is an awful middle ages/old womans name!

Boys:

Austin - Don't like it, reminds me of cars.
Blake - Hmmm, I don't really like this one either. Can't put my finger on why not.
Cole* - It's ok.
Carter* - It sounds like something I'd name my dog.
Caleb* - I quite like this one, I like Jacob too.
Connor - I prefer it to Carter.
Noah - Like it.
Nolan* - I realise this is one of your top fives but I really dislike it.
Tyler - It's ok but not my style.
William* - A classic, I like it as a middle name (eg, Noah William, Caleb William) more than as a first name though.

Girls: (a bit longer than the boys)

Anna - I love it!
Addison (Addy)* - Looks like it's missing an "M" (and I don't like Maddison either).
Caroline - It's ok, pretty bland though. I know a Polish girl who is called Karolina (pronounced Karo-leena) and I much prefer it.
Ella* - It's nice.
Eleanore (nn: Ellie or Nora) - I like this one. I'd spell it Elanor because I'm a LOTR freak ;)
Ellen (nn: Elle) - I prefer Elle or Ellie to Ellen.
Evelyn (nn: Evie) - I prefer just Evie, Eva or Ava.
Felicity * - I don't like this one, it sounds very old fashioned.
Kathleen - I hate Kathleen, I much prefer Katherine.
Lara - Quite pretty, makes me think of Tomb Raider!
Lydia - Love it.
Madeleine - Love it.
Nora* - It's ok.
Olivia - Not bad.
Wendy - An old woman's name. Really dislike it!

I really cannot imagine calling a baby Caroline, Kathleen or Wendy - I can only imagine them on middle aged to old women. But then I guess middle aged women were all babies once! But generally, I like your names :)

For your boys' names, I love all of them! They are all strong names in and of themselves, and many of them would work in combination for a first/middle name set if you chose to do it that way. The only name I don't know about for a first name (but good as a middle name IMHO) is Nolan, but that's definitely personal preference. I think Noah is a better choice.

Favorite girls' names: Anna, Evelyn, Olivia, and Wendy. The name Madeleine is cute (already picturing the nickname "Maddy"), too! In fact, I don't dislike any of your girls' names! :) Great choices!

I knew a Nolan in preschool, and I was just thinking about him today and then the name is on your list! Lol.

And a friend-of-a-friend of my mother's has a little boy named Blake, and he is the cutest, sweetest little boy, so I love the name even though it's not my style.
