I would assume it was a misspelling of "Mireille," so unless it's pronounced the same (which I'd doubt), I'd probably screw it up.

It's the English version of the Gaelic name Meriel. It's pronounced Mary-elle.

I prefer Mariel. Less confusion over pronunciation, and looks a little cleaner.
