Hey guys. So. After a major, severe, LONG writers block, i finally am writing stories/novels/whatever you wanna call them again :) But i ALWAYS have a lot of trouble naming my characters. So i was thinking you guys can help me. I'll write down what the main characters and any information i can think of about them :)

I need you to name....

1: The Main Character: Girl, 16 or 17. (I haven't decided yet)
2: Little sisters: 12-year-old twin girls
3: Older sister: Sophomore in college who wont be around much
4: Mom and Dad

5: Female Best Friend: Same age as main character
6: Runner up female best friend: (Very close but not THE best friend...we all have em lol)
7: Close guy friend
8: Main girls love interest:

(So at some point during the story the girls gonna move about 2 hours away and basically its her juggling her life between her old friends and new friends (I know it sounds cheesy but its my life right now so its giving me some inspiration)

9: First new friends (One boy and one girl)
10: 4 Random new friends
11: Random new BOY:

Feel free to throw in any names you happen to like that i could use for random side people.

Ok. Thanks guys seriously. I really just cannot think of names for these people. :(

I'm a writer too! It's funny, because we kinda work in opposite ways. I hear a name and it makes me think of a character, which makes me think of a whole plot and story!

Anyway, name suggestions:
1: The Main Character: Allison
2: Little sisters: Taylor and Claire
3: Older sister: Jenna
4: Mom and Dad: Nancy and Dennis

5: Female Best Friend: Meghan
6: Runner up female best friend: Kelsey
7: Close guy friend: Patrick
8: Main girls love interest: Jason

9: First new friends: Robyn and Steve
10: 4 Random new friends: Shannon, Blair, Keith, and Michael
11: Random new BOY: Luke

I'm a writer too, yay!

Have you got any of the characters' personalities set in stone yet? I think you should look at who they are and decide what names fit, like if they're really girly or a tomboy, what their relatives names are. There's no point naming a character say 'Eden' when her brothers and sisters are called Mary and John. On the flipside, Eden might suit a character whose mother is a hippy or something.

What about favourite names? Sometimes, when I'm creating characters, usually for a plot I've come up with, I'll pick a name I've heard somewhere I like and build them up from there. I also tend to go with the first name that pops into my head, and the characters will usually grow into it, so much to change it would be wrong.

Also, did you want names that mean something, or is that not integral to the plot? I like to look up names on babynames.com to see how the meaning fits the person. Sometimes, it's the opposite of who they are, sometimes their names suit to a T.

It's all how you want your character to be perceived. It's best to keep some common names, and not get too trendy. You're allowed as much creative license as you want but using a heap of strange names doesn't work - unless of course it was in some made up world.

As for names, well, I like the name Jennifer. It's strong, but being teenagers, it can be shortened to Jen or Jenny, and then it's always fun to hear the parents yell her full name. For the parents, more 'old-fashioned' names would suit. David, Michael, Brian, Greg? Melanie, Susan, Margaret, Belinda?

Sorry I'm not more help. :)
