Sci-fi

[identity profile] girlsteve.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I have a friend who's writing a sci-fi book with a very real possibility for publication (very exciting, she's been publishing articles for a while now but it's her first opportunity). She's got the plot all mapped out, but she's still switching the names of lots of the characters - and she asked for my input, being a name geek :D

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas?

I've aleady made sure it's ok to post this, but I'm shying away from putting too much detail in. The bit of the story that may be important is that its set on a planet that was colonised by earth when we first discovered space exploration, but because it was a first attempt the system collapsed and there was a revolution. Hence we're ok to use accepted names for some characters - especially ones that have strong religious or cultural connotations - but we're also ok to use quite far out names for others.

So far we've got one characher called Evangeline James (James being the surname) and we're looking for a middle name for her. She's a revolutionary that starts out optimistic and ends up a killer.
We've also got another character called Kindred (f) who needs the rest of her name. She's sweet and 'a bit useless' to quote the author.
The male lead is so far called Dante, but she's not set on that one.

Other characters that need names:

A middle aged woman who runs a prostest movement in support of the revolution. Means well and yells a lot, but ultimately achieves nothing.
A shy boy who is helps the revolution, but mainly because he wants to help Evangeline
A corrupt politician who will do anything for power (f)
An inept politician who gets swept away in the chaos (f)
A right-wing individualist who sets up the anti-revolutionary movement (f)
A charismatic public speaker who is the public face of the anti-revolutionary movement (f)
A solider who gives the impression of being emotionless, but is in fact just professional when it comes to her job (f)
A computer geek who doesn't really know what he's doing, but boldly goes anyway. If at first he doesn't succeed, he'll try something else.
Kindred's oblivious girlfriend, who hasn't got a clue about politics or current affairs but is by no means stupid.
A journalist who's in over his head.

Any ideas?
