Help with name inspiration please!
Mar. 10th, 2008 08:17 pmSorry if this is totally not the point of this community, just know it was about names, and is fairly busy, so thought I'd give it a go.
We are expecting our second child in around 12 weeks. We don't know if it has a penis or not, so have to come up with two names. We have a girls name in mind, but are really having problems coming up with a second.
Our daughter is called Daisy Starr - now, I feel I must defend this as I never even thought of any stripper/bimbo/hooker connotations with this name, as we live outwith the US. I never realised there was an alleged porn star with this name until after she was born and names - hahaha, oops! Anyway, she goes by Daisy and it suits her as she is very pretty, and sweet natured - a blonde haired, blue eyed, soon-to-be 3 year old.
Our next girls name we have picked is Lily Belle. We wanted to go with the flower name again, and Belle means something to us. That is pretty much settled that we will use that name in the event of another girl.
For a boy, we would like to use the name Jack somewhere, whether it be something Jack, or Jack something. Despite it's popularity (1st ranking boys name in the UK for like 7 years running) we really love it. So we're thinking of something a *little* more different for the other name.
We don't want a K, D or V unless something we REALLY love as we'd like to avoid sharing initials.
Our surname is Taylor.
I probably won't respond to all suggestions (I'm really hoping for a lot, we are STUMPED!) so apologies and thank you in advance.

Date: 2008-03-10 09:57 pm (UTC)Jack Aspen Taylor sounds really nice, though, or Jack Linden.
My favorite plant-name for a boy is Valerian, but I doubt most people would agree with me.

Date: 2008-03-10 10:40 pm (UTC)As for the girl, I suggest you go for something that has the meaning of some type of flower, or maybe just have the name be a not-well-known flower, so it doesn't seem TOO sibsetty.
Some suggestions:
Fleur
Hana
Jasmine (sorry, eating my words here, but I just love the name)
Lei
Mallika (means "scent of jasmine". My friend has this name and I think it's a really good one)
Zahra
Jack is okay, but then again, popularity is really...not so good. My name is Emily, the most popular girls name in the US, and it's really terrible to feel as though everyone else has my name. I beg you not to name your child something really popular. Then again, boys might react differently than me.
If you do go with Jack, I suggest making his full name John, and then just calling him Jack. More offical:]
