 Hey, I'm not exactly new, but this is my first time posting.

just a tiny little bit of info before i say the names, just so you don't think I'm crazy. I am a writer, typically fantasy books, but I've been messing with names of my characters and now I want to make sure they aren't very far out there, and are at least pronounceable aned somewhat apealing.

Note: This is a medieval-like fantasy novel, in a place called Andella (double L pronounced like Y, like in spanish)

These are more the main characters. The minor ones i don't mind about the names as much.

Females:
Aurora (Called Rori by her older brother)
Edeline
Nora
Aislinn
Kari
Faye
Shelby
Lithaya
Chiara


Males:
Shigu (the name is not supposed to be apealing. its the main evil guy)
Turgon
Tom
Blaze (its his nickname that everyone refers to him as.. i'm still trying to come up with his Court name)
Gavin
Conner
Will (this name is changing, i just don't know to what)


just let me know what you think. These names can always change, but I kinda like them now. Before they sounded kinda... weird.

(most of these were named when I originally wrote this book at age 12... so yeah...)

I like Aislinn, but I like Aisling even better. It's pronounced the same.
I also like Faye a lot, and Conner (though I like Connor even better).

I think they suit the setting as you described it very well! =)

I like all the girls names.

Shigu sounds a little Japanese (well anime like anyway) which doesn't seem to be the feel you were going for with the others.

Gavin sounds a little off too now that I think of it.

Gavin is supposed to be this weird mage guy, so that one kinda felt like it fit, but It could change. Technically he doesn't come in till the second book.

When I was 11 my friend named shigu, which might be why it does sound different than the others that I named. I May go back and change that one soneday, but I like that when I mispell it is goes "Shigy" which makes me laugh for some reason. The easy way to degrade the villian.

But now that I think about it, you're kinda right about them seeming out of place. Shigu (gah almost did shigy) especially. hmmm. Time to do some re-thinking.

The reason I was opposed to Connor was because my friends are all major "Angel" fans (the buffy spin off if you don't know what i'm talking about) and one of the characters name is Connor. And when I first said Conner they were all like "ohh like from angel!". But I really liked the name and to me it fit with Aurora as his little sister. But I may change it back now that I really am not as good of friends with them anymore.
