Not expecting (or expecting to be expecting any time in the next ten years!)... I'm just a longtime baby name afficionado.

[Poll #1140152]

My five favorite boys' names are Jesse, Sam, Miles, Noel and Henry. My five favorite girls' names are Matilda (yes, long before I knew the late Heath Ledger's daughter was named that), Amelia, Lydia, Liza and Nolia.

It is funny, I really like most of your girl's names (more than half are on my list) but not very many of your boy's. Would you just use Thad or Thaddeus?

i like a lot of your names, but not the nicknames (for example, i like nathan, but not nat. i like eliza, but hate liza)

I've been called Liza all my life, and while I love my name, it gets butchered 90% of the time upon meeting new people. Some people just can't wrap their brains around it and I get "Leeza" "Lisa" "Eliza" and sometimes even "Elijah." WTF?

Funny, you have my top two favorite names on your list, Lydia and Cecilia (although I prefer Cecelia), and Mallory and Greta are on my list too. :) Caleb, Henry, Peter, and James are my favorites off of your boy list.

I love love love love love your taste in names. Jesse, Miles, Sam, and Henry have all been on boy's list at one point or another, and so have Amelia, Lydia, and Eliza.

In the poll, I didn't vote for: Thad, because I like it as a nickname for Thaddeus but not on it's own; Noel, because I like it as a middle name, but I think it'd be harder for a boy to pull of as a first name, and nobody would pronounce it like Joel, they'd all say No-el; Ramona because it always makes me think of the books; Paige, Gwendolyn, Nolia, Kerstin, and Mallory for a variety of reasons, mostly because I just don't like them or because they're hard to spell/pronounce (Nolia & Kerstin).

My favorite combo would be Adrian Noel or Caleb Henry, and Eliza Margaret or Lydia Caroline.

Is Matilda actually beocming more popular because of Heath? I think it's in a group of names, like Violet and Amelia, that are supposed to be becoming very fashionable now.
