Hello there everyone! I've been a member here for a while, but I've been ignoring my lj obligations... heh. Anyhow, I just got a little kitty and he really needs a name. At the shelter they called him Lucas, which I don't dislike, but I really want to name him myself. I had two kitty names in mind-- Pixel ((from Heinlein's 'The Cat Who Walked Through Walls')) and Trooper ((as in Sean 'Trooper' Thorton from 'The Quiet Man'))-- but he doesn't seem like a Pixel or a Trooper. Then I was thinking Cole, as in Cole from 'Charmed' but I'm not sure I like that enough. So, any ideas?

Our black cat was named JuJu (means luck), which my sister changed to Juanita when we had to give her to my sister. My sister's friend's black cat is named Esmerelda (Essie for short), which I think is cute for a black cat :).

He looks like Osiris! (Osiris is what we call the male stray that sometimes lives under our shed, who looks just like our Isis. They meow at each other through the sliding glass door.)

I don't know about that. Sometimes, my kitties are better at causing sorrow and grief (over broken knicknacks, overturned houseplants, and scratched-up furniture) than releasing them. But I suppose you're right, in general. ^_~

Onyx is pretty. He definitely releases sorrow, but causes quite a bit too... right now I'm typing one handed 'cause he's chewing on my other hand. ^ ^

Aww, poor kitty, and poor owner!

It might help to calm her fear of the car if you take her places besides the vet sometimes--we take ours on occasion to visit my in-laws, or to the park to walk around on a leash, and so on. They're pretty good in the car, and I'm convinced that's why. Every cat is different, though, of course; they can also have irrational anxieties and motion sickness and so on, too.
