Chicken Names

We got 8 baby chicks last month and I thought I'd share the names with you! There are 4 different breeds, so my kids decided to use the same first letter for the chicks of the same breed.

Chloe (picked by my 11 y/o)
Callie

Matilda
Mabel

Hazel
Henrietta

Layla (picked by my 4 y/o)
Lucy (would have named my 4 year old this if he had been a girl, so now it's a chicken name!)

What comes to your mind?

I found the beginnings of a story I was writing a while back and I noticed that at first glance, the names I originally chose paint a different picture in my mind than the actual physical description I wrote next to their names.

I was curious what first comes to mind for you all when you hear their names, because I'm thinking of revisiting my story and perhaps changing the character descriptions around. What are your thoughts?:


Meris Grand - protagonist, 18 years old
Julian Grand - Meris' older brother, 25 years old
Melanie Grand - Julian's wife, 26 years old. Jealous of Meris and Julian's close relationship
Erik Julian (EJ) and Claudine Grand Julian's 3 year old twin son and daughter
Marlene Ferris - Meris' and Julian's mom
Kenneth Ferris - Meris' and Julian's stepdad and Marlene's husband. A good stepdad whom Meris and Julian respect, but don't see too much as a father.
Liam Carlisle - Meris' love interest. Age unknown, but probably around Meris' age.


So what do these characters look like in your mind? Do you like the names?
