I was at my cousin's son's 5th bday party last night, surrounded by 4 to 6 year olds... Good times!!
My cousin Beccy's son is Darrien Cameron.  Her friend Cayleigh has a son 2 weeks older than Darrien, Marcus Michael.  Beccy's current bf, Nigel, brought his godson Roman, and his cousins (really not sure of spelling) Kamassia (f) and Cassius (m).  Her friend Natalie brought her son Kalel (named after Superman); she has another son, Chace, who was too sick to come.
Beccy is also pregnant, due next month, with a little girl that she wants to name Savana Sofiyah (if I understood correctly).  I am not a huge fan of Savana in any spelling, but I do love Sofia/Sophia...  I think the spelling she chose is a little complicated, but the names are kind of cute together.

The guy downstairs from me has his sister and her 2 kids visiting... I only know their names because she keeps screaming at the kids: Darius (about 5) and Kaliyah (I guess between 2 and 3;  not sure of spelling, it's pronounced like Aaliyah with a K, nickname Lula)

Thoughts on "Macho" Boys Names.

I found this post on Nameberry about macho/wild boys' names.  I read through the post's comments, and a lot of them do not like the idea of super-macho names for boys, claiming that these names would "own" them, among other reasons.  What do you guys think of this?

Personally, the only names on the list I could ever bestow on a kid are Fox and Thor, and even then, probably as a middle name.  I think most of these names are a little extreme, honestly.  I could not name a kid Diesel because that's the main villain of Thomas the Tank Engine (a staple of my childhood).

Which names do you like and dislike?  Do you worry about a name's masculinity when naming male children/characters/pets?

What do you think about the name Mika (Meeka)?  How about Lyric?  Both for a girl.
