Although it matters to some people more than others, I think most of us here agree that sibling names should go together stylistically, or at least not clash horribly. Which brings me to a problem. Not a pressing one, since there are no babies in my near future, but still. I have two distinctly different "styles" that I lean toward. More dominant at the moment is the Neo-Traditionalist: Alice, Charlotte, Lily, Gabriel, Jonah. The other, starting to swing back into favor, is more of an Offbeat style: Callista, Ariana, Tabitha, Dominic, Jasper. What do you do when you like, not just more than one name, but more than one kind of name, about equally? The choice for Baby 1 sets the tone for all the others to follow, so it's an important choice to make!

I suppose I could try giving my husband a vote, but since he's not in the near future either...

ETA: Thanks for all the responses! I feel a little reassured now that I can use a name from one set without ruling out the others forever. Yay!

My SO and I have pretty well decided that if our first child is a girl [we're TTC at the moment] then we want to name her Levi. That was until recently. We were on a road trip this weekend and we passed a sign on the highway for a road called Levy [LEH-vee]. She then starts telling me how she only wants to use Levi now if I'd be willing to spell it one of the following ways...brace yourselves.

We got in a seriously heated argument about it that ended in her telling me to take our time spent conceiving to think about it because she wants to reconsider using it if we don't use one of those spellings. And trust me, it was HARD to find a name we agreed on for a girl in the first place. I'm frustrated, and honestly I wanted to pull the car over and rip my hair out. My wife is a smart, very well-educated, sweet and wonderful woman...so what happens to make someone want to mutilate a perfectly good name?

It's been probably a year since I've done a poll on my names. I've discarded some, but I've added more and consequently, I can no longer fit all of the boy's names into one poll so it'll be a Part I, Part II thing. Some of these are GP names that I probably would never use, like Jocelyn. :X
