I've just stumbled upon a new favorite: Avra (g) (prn AH-vrah)
I couldn't actually use it, as it's too close to our settled name for a girl (Alma), but I just kinda fell in love with it. Here's how it happened: I came across someone with the last name Palavra, and I thought it sounded really nice; then I realized it's the word for "word" in portuguese (lol sorry, no pun!). Then I derived Avra from it, and Googled it and found it's an actual name!
It's basically a female variant of Abraham.
It's also really close to another favorite of mine (Azra). What is it with me and short, A**a names? lol (it's too funny that I hatehatehate Anna!)

So WDYT? It does work better in italian with a smooth "r" instead of a rolled one.

ETA: apparently it is also a greek word for "breeze", "wind", from which comes the word "aura". Sigh.. it makes me like it even more!

We called our son Rufus William, and our daughter Zadie Mae Victoria.
We chose the names from a decade-by-decade UK census. All the names were in the top 500 during the decade of 1880-1890. They've all been on a rapid decline since then, but we love them :)

I was watching Reba yesterday and was reading the end credits when a name popped up that caught my attention.

Penny Nickels.

I thought it was kinda weird and wanted to share. :)

I came up with this idea after reading a thread where someone had mentioned that all the kids in a sib set had the same initials as one of their parents: B.A.

Directions:
Some of us have three names (first/middle/last) and some of us have four (first/middle/second middle or confirmation/last), and I'm sure some of us have more than four names. Take your initials and come up with one boys name and one girls name (or more, if you like). The catch is that each name must have the same amount of letters as the name it is based off of. I suck at explaining things, so here is your example:

My name: Caitlin (7 letters) Marie (5 letters) Brigid (6 letters)

My "kids" names:
Catrine (7 letters after Caitlin) Maren (5 letters after Marie) Bianca (6 letters after Brigid)
and
Christo (7 letters after Caitlin) Manny (5 letters after Marie) Brette (6 letters after Brigid)

LOL, just thinking of those examples was not as easy as I thought it would be. Good luck!

What do you think about the name "Scout" for a little girl?

I noticed one of the girls on The Real World is named Ayiiia.

Also, I was talking to my s/o's mom and apparently his dad wanted to name him Xanti Juaquim Miguel. Fortunately his mother refused to birth anything by that name. So his name is John Michael. His dad wanted to name his brother Moon but he got named Timothy Earl. I think it's funny because from Xanti to John is quite a jump.
