After much debate & negotiation with spuse, we're leaning heavily toward Emerson Levi for a name. Nickname Emo.(I think tharts some amt of a nascar reference, but I'm more from the ralph waldo school of thought on it) Yes, this gives him ELF for initials. But I don't think that's too cruel. Thoughts?

EDIT: spouse still likes Emo because of the nascar driver, but I'm leaning toward "Em" for short, and usually "Emerson," since I like long names.

Talking about naming laws...

In Portugal, there is a list of names allowed by the government. They say it's to protect the language or something like that. Even though some of the names is the list are much more reasonable than the horrible stuff people use to name their kids these days, I find the list terribly restrictive. I mean, my mum's name is Leda. It's a pretty normal name in several languages, and it's not allowed!!!

Several really common names, such as Daniele or Viviane, are not allowed. And if you want to give your child a name that's not in the list, you have to go to court.

Anyway, here is the list, if you're curious. "Sim" means yes and "Não" means no, so you can know which names are allowed or not allowed. And of course, M stands for male and F for female names.

So, I've posted here before but it now seems that a child could be a possibility in the near future and with an Italian so I need some different help. I want the child to have an Italian name but one that would be suitable in the US also. Here's a list of my favorites. Let me know what you think of them, or if you have any suggestions. I definitely don't want Francesco/a, Marco, Giovanni/a, etc. as it seems half of Italy has those names...

What goes better with the last name Raeder?  I'm changing my Facebook name because I'm randomly hella bored lol.  My name now (my real name) is Samantha.  Samantha is too common and I have 5 or 6 friends with that name now.  What are your top 3 from this list?  Thanks in advance!

Choices... )

On my Optimum Online screen, there is a feature about a family who suddenly ended up homeless. It features primarily a 9 year old girl named-

Brehanna

Thoughts?

I do not like. Is it Bree-hannah? I feel like it shouldn't be pronounced like Brianna, but who knows with parents these days?

Hi all!

My boyfriend and I are expecting a baby girl in six weeks time. Right from the off we were both really keen on the name Evelyn, and it's stuck all throughout the pregnancy. However we are having a really hard time with a middle name. We can't pick one beginning with G or R as she'll be an EGG or an ERG :P As Evelyn is becoming such a popular name now, we also wanted to pick a slightly more unusual middle name that's not too out there if you know what I mean!

Any suggestions? :]
