My sister and brother-in-law are having their first baby, due in August. Naturally, they're very excited. They don't know if they're having a boy or a girl yet, they find out next month. But, they really want a girl. So they've only been contemplating names for a girl. And therein lies the dilemma they're having. They've found a first name that they both love, and obviously their last name is set. They're having trouble with a middle name. So I come to you all with the problem.

They want something relatively simple that isn't used by everybody. The father-to-be has already vetoed Marie and Anne. But they're open to any other suggestions. There is no ethnic preference, and as long as it flows nicely with both first and last name, mother and father will be happy. ^_^ Thank you ahead of time for your suggestions!

The name they've picked is:

Natasha (blank) Williams

Can you think of anything Wendy could be a nickname for besides Gwendolyn? I just can't stand the name Gwendolyn, love Wendy, but don't like the thought of Wendy as a full name.

I thought of Wendla, which is the name of a character in Spring Awakening, but behindthename and every other name site are all telling me it isn't a real name. However, when I google it I am actually coming up with people named this, including someone who died on the Titanic.

Can you think of anything else?

Also, just a general question, what do you think is enough to a consider a name a "real" name?

Let's say theoretically, Twilight did not exist. How would you feel about the name Cullen?
Back when I was in middle school, I knew a boy named this and always loved it. I finally read the first book and was really sad that it was a main character's name.

Also, my Aunt who raised me was named Rosemarie and I'd like to honor her in some way, so how do you feel about Rose/Rosemarie?

I remember there being a post months ago with someone talking about their grandmothers large family and I mentioned my great-grandfather (my Gramps) was from a big family. I thought that he was one of fifteen, but actually he was one of twenty two but there were three that died within days of birth, five still births, and then three/four (we couldn't find out) died before the age of five.

We had only known five of the names, but then I was curious and I wanted to find out the rest. Lets just say it took a lot of digging around to find out the names of them and some of the birthdays.  We couldn't read all the names written down in the family Bible but we tried our hardest - some of them are missing middle names.

The live/d in Appalachia during the turn of the 20th century and were pretty deep in the mountains.  I know for a fact that they didn't get running water or electricity until about ten years ago.  My Gramps ran away from home at thirteen and worked in a steel factory somewhere in Delaware.

Today I met a child whose mother introduced her as (what I suppose I thought was) Jocelyn.  The spelling?  Jazz-Elaine.

I don't like it at all.  WDYT?

Opinions?

This is a name I've probably never seen mentioned here but it has recently became a favorite of mine: Laura. My family's not that big on giving babies family names (I have a huuuge family and I only four people clearly have family names) but Laura was the name of an aunt of mine who died in her teens so that's why it's also appealing to me. In the way we pronounce Laura here in Finland, the -au is pronounced like the -ou in "cloudy" and that's pretty much the only way I like it. I think it fits beautifully with my two other favorite names, Frida and Emil. WDYT about Laura?

Also, here are some other names I've recently added to my ever growing name list: Anja, Emma/Emmy, Greta, Naomi, Ronja, Safira, Sonja, Stella, Stina, Tilda and Zosia. Holden and Liam.
