If you could take just one name from both the boy and girl side of the Top 50 and throw it to spot #1000 or beyond, for whatever reason, love or hatred, which names would you choose?

Lola is a family name and I've always thought about using it should I ever have a daughter.

It also seems to be a very divisive name: people either seem to love it or loathe it.

Pro: It's a beautiful spanish name that's easy to spell and easy to pronounce. I think its a great alternative to a very common, over-used name and a very obscure, rare name.

Cons: Thanks to songs by Barry Manilow and The Kinks and other references in pop culture, the name also carries some connotations/impressions (not to mention fodder for teasing). Also, it has spurts of popularity and might be seen as a "fad" name.

What do you guys think? Like it or leave it?

Thanks in advance :)

A girl I went to elementary school with just announced on her facebook that she's become a mom.

She had a baby girl and named her Maya.

I think it's cute! :)

I was making a list the other day of  sister sib sets I know of that aren't bad and I came up with this:

Monica (21) Irene (20)

Bianca (15), Angela (13)

Paula (23), Camilla (19)

Alexandra (21), Sabrina (15)

I liked these because they are normal but not overly boring and since all but one sib set on the list is at least bilingual (and I'm pretty sure all are trilingual) they are names that can be said nicely in all languages that they speak.

Our school e-mail has middle (and first and last, of course) names on every contact so I thought I would share the names of the people in my group for a project.

Eric Lee
Megan Kathryn
Ashley Nicole
Jenna Marie
Jacquenlyn Suzanne

I was also talking to an acquaintance of mine the other day and names somehow came up. Knowing me, I probably randomly asked, but I don't recall for sure. Anyway, her family gets confirmation names legally added once they are confirmed into the Catholic church. So the first two names are the birth names and the third is the Confirmation name.

Christopher Michael (Eligius?), nn Chris - She couldn't remember the confirmation name but she said it's the patron saint of coin collecting and my research says that would be it.
Melissa Rose Mary DiRosa, goes by Melissa, parents call her Emi sometimes, Rose is for a grandmother
Genaro Andrew Gennaro, goes by Andrew - Genaro is their grandfather's name and there is also a St. Gennaro/Januarius which he took his confirmation name for.
Katherine Susan, nn Katie - hasn't been confirmed yet

She also told me about her boyfriend's family. He is named Ryan Michael and his siter is named Renee Marie. His father is something with the initials R.M. and his mother is coincidentally, M.R. so they all have those letters, which Melissa actually has herself. Perfect for marrying into the family. ;)

Also, my very favorite bank teller is named Zak. She used to have a name plate with her full first name on it though -- Zakkyah. I'm pretty sure that's how it was spelt. It's been months now. I guess it's a variation of Zakiah. I kept wondering how it was pronounced so I finally worked up the courage to ask about it. zuh-KEYuh is a pretty close approximation to it, I think. Anyway, we had a nice little conversation about it.

WDYT

I have a cousin, a boy, who is about thirteen, called Rowan. I've not seen this cousin for about ten years and I don't think many of my family see him either, except my Nan. The thing is, I adore the name Rowan for a girl and would love to use it for a daughter. Would that be too weird, as there's already a Rowan in ther family? WDYT?
