So the post about the sibset from 12 yrs ago with (now) popular names got me thinking.  I worked in daycare about 10 yrs ago & I think for me, that is when I saw a lot of these trendy names coming about.  Here are some names of the kids I knew between the ages of 6 weeks & 5 years.  Siblings are grouped together.

Griffin & Chelsea
Wright & Olivia
Rachel, Rebecca & Leah.
one Mackenzie. and it was an uncommon, original name then.
there were 2 Madisons in my class of 1 yr olds. one was an only child.
the other Madison had a sister Morgan & eventually I think their third child was Mackenzie.  that's the triple whammy right there...
Matthew, Sarah-Kate & Claire
Claire & Jack
Drew (b) & Emma
Emma & Ben
Ben & Adam
Elizabeth & Jenner
Sam & Ethan
Ethan & Julia
Billy & Brittany
Hayden (b)
Drew (g)
Kate
Hugh
Tristan (b)
Travis
Mykala
Kalia
Allegra
(I can't remember her sister's names but I think they were as different as this? Karina maybe?)
Hans
Lucas
An Isabelle or two, a couple Henrys, multiple, assorted Connors, Nicholases, Christophers, Matthews & Nicoles

these are just the ones I can remember now.

Okay, so what do people think of the name Cressida? It means "golden one" in Greek and comes from the Medieval legends of a woman called Cressida who betrays her lover, a Trojan prince called Troilus. It was popularised by Chaucer in a poem, and Shakespeare in one of his plays called, strangely enough, Troilus and Cressida. She's generally seen as a bit of a trollop - she sleeps around and is definitely not to be trusted.

It would be pronounced Kress-uh-dah, with possible nicknames Cress or Cressy. Very uncommon, at least in Australia. What does everyone think of it?

This could be a fun game... My husband and I hadn't decided on a name for our daughter when she was born. We wanted to meet her first to see what names would suit her. We had her home for a week before we decided on a name. (She is almost 2 now).

So, here's the game. Everyone look at the newborn baby picture and name my baby. You can only pick ONE name (well, first and middle, or first and double middle if that's your thing). And for other parents out there, post a pic of YOUR baby as a newborn and let us name him or her.

Baby! )
