I have a girl in the school I teach at who is Mexican and has the name Isla. She goes my Ees-la too. The name is really growing on me lately :-)

When I see it, I think "EES-lah," as in that awesome Madonna song with the Spanish title, "La Isla Bonita." But if I'm thinking of it in terms of a name for a child, I tend to correct myself mentally and consider it pronounced EYE-luh.
