[identity profile] juniorfan29.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Another post brought up the Sweet Valley books and it made me think of a name I had read in one of them, once.

Jessamyn

It's not necessarily one that I would use, but I do think it's pretty. It's different without being disgusting. What do you think?

Seems like a hybrid of Jessica and Jasmine.

I don't necessarily love those names to begin with (they're acceptable names, so I can deal with them), but to combine the two is just horrible, in my opinion. :\

Jessica & Elizabeth's great-grandmother who was a circus horserider or something?

I don't have a clue if I made that up or not... but it popped into my mind reading the post!

My friend's sister is Jessamyn, it looks too made-up for my liking.

I can stand Jessamine, because it's in the dictionary :P
it's a pretty yellow flower
Don't like that spelling!
ANother I've heard of is Jessalyn, she's an actress in Nip/Tuck.
I think I don't like the Jessa- sound.

It's an old altered spelling of Jessamine, a flower name which I don't believe is related to Jessica in origin. Jessamine's pretty.

I don't really like it. I agree with everyone who said it looks made up.

I know some one who gave her daughter the first name of "Jessamine-Rose". I don't recall the middle name, but I hope, for the girl's sake, that it's not another flower...

I prefer Jessamine, but I don't really like the "jess" sound in names, so it's not a favorite.

I went to college with a Jessmyn. I'm not really a fan of the name, but I like it better than Jessamyn.

When I read that when I loved those books, I was like, wow, way to make up names to fit a back storyline!

I like it, but wouldn't use it.
