I was looking at the top 1000 boy and girl names of recent times. My goodness. Some of the top girl names were: Precious, Princess, Chanel, Armani, Ashanti, Shakira, Halle, Celine, Ximena, etc. The boys were: Xzavier, Zavier, Mohammed, Jesus, Zaire, Kaeden, Guy, Zander.

To be honest, I think majority of those names in the top 1000 are either too ridiculous or just too traditional. Yet few are traditional. Really, most of those top 1000 names are awful.

Well, I'm not surprised at all by Mohammed, Jesus, Guy, or even Celine. But especially Mohammed and Jesus. Those are really common names.

Wht's weird about Halle, Celine?
Granted, Xzavier & Zavier are silly spellings of Xavier & Kaeden is a trendy it can be spelt however.. at least the sounds make phonetc sense, normal enough name.
Mohammed is probably the most popular name in the world..

I love loads of the names in the top 1000, not many in the top 100 though.

Well, yeah, but there are plenty of Muslims and Hispanics in the United States, and there have been for a while, so I just don't see how it's at all surprising for those names to be in the top 1000.

actually shakira isn't that weird, it is an arabic name related to the word for thankfulness. although most people probably went for it because of the singer (who happens to be half lebanese)
