First of all, I'm not pregnant and have no potential baby daddy figures in my life, so this won't be a big deal for a long time to come, but...I've always liked to think about what I'll name my kids. Lately, this is something I've been thinking about.


Provided my future baby daddy is okay with it, I am going to name my first son Justin. I've liked this name since I was about nine, and I VERY hightly doubt it's going to change any time soon. Over the years I thought of a number of middles names to go along with Justin before finally settling on Justin Lloyd, after my (late) paternal grandfather.

Lately, however, I've been rethinking that. My paternal grandfather and I were never that close, where as with my maternal grandfather...I'm a Grandpa's Girl. Big time. My maternal grandfather's name is Herman Royd, so I'm beginning to think that I would rather name a future boy Justin Royd. So...baby_names...I'm bringing my "dilema" to you for opinions.

I think both sound good, but Justin Royd seems to have more meaning for you, so that's the one I picked. :)

Personally, I'd go with Justin Lloyd, because Royd makes me think of the slang term for steroids ('roids), but Royd seems to have more meaning for you, so I'd say use that one.

What about Justin Herman? With a last name, it might sound better to have a two syllable middle name.

I thought about Justin Herman, but I'm not too sure I like how it flows.

I do like that, and like I said, I don't think Royd is *horrible*, especially if it means something to you and is the middle name, not the first.

I think Justin Herman flows really well.

I like Justin Herman, if your last name doesn't also end in N. The first baby born in my city in 2008 was named Justin!

I think you should go for Royd. It means more to you. Also the names are SO similar you could feel that you were honoring both grandfathers. You could try to combine the names to honor both as well - Justin Leroy sounds nice to me.

I love the name Justin. It's in my top three :) I went with Lloyd for two reasons. 1) Royd makes me think of 'roid rage - as in steroids and 2) Lloyd Dobler is the best character to ever grace a movie screen.

unfortunately I have to say I don't like your middle name choices as much..
I voted for Lloyd only because Royd seems a bit weird, I've never heard of it.
But maybe it does match Justin a bit more.
