On Project Runway one of the contestants was talking about her daughter and she said her name was (and this is how it's pronounced) Kah-ly-uh-pee. How would you spell that? I think it's pretty but it's a little much for me.

Also my mom's friend just had a daughter: Ava Grace. Plain but cute.

Calliope (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calliope)

Like Penelope. Or my user name.

Ava Grace is dull city.

I like Calliope a LOT LOT LOT more than Ava Grace, to tell you the truth. One is historical, quirky, and literary, and the other one seems (to me) dull and vapid.

It is Calliope and she was a Greek Goddess, mother of Orpheus. A calliope is also a musical instrument. The word Calliope means "beautiful voiced". I once played Calliope in an opera during my undergraduate career. (I was an opera major, heh.)

Heh. It is not a common name, I'm sure that is why. ;)

Calliope is also a constellation, although I couldn't tell you where to find it in the sky. My sister has a dog named Calliope...Callie for short.
