Hi. My name is Sara, which obviously is very common (especially when you go to college at Sarah Lawrence. Plus the unoriginal jokes about it are endless.) My middle name is Thistle, which I love because I've never met anyone else with that as part of their name. I'm not going to need names for actual babies for several years still, but I'm an aspiring writer and have always had a love for baby names, especially unique ones. I've noticed a recent trend among girls around 6 or 7 that a lot of them seemed to be named -ianna. At the pool I work at there are two Gianna's and one Sianna. I'm not really sure who thought this was a good idea, because all of the names sound the same (kind of like the aidan/caden/jayden/etc. phenomenon) and I don't really think the names have a lot of personality behind them, IMHO. Personally, I'm a huge fan of welsh names and anything that can be shortened to a really endearing nickname. Growing up with name Sara, the best I ever got was "Sar."

I've gone through life telling people that "No, no H. Yes, S-A-R-A. Right. No H." And my last name is very easy to pronounced but very intimidating on paper, so I've gone through life dealing with that too. I feel like no matter what you name your kid, there's always going to be some part of that name that they go through life going, "No, it's spelled/pronounced like this." Unless your name is Jane Johnson, like in those Face On The Milk Carton books.

Oh! Those names are beautiful! And my name (Ariel) is on there. Yay. I love my name, though it kind of is hard thing to be named, especially being born in 1988. Everyone assumes I was named after the mermaid, even though the movie didn't come out until a year later!

I really like Darcy. I have a long list of names (Not for babies just yet! I write, too.) and I think I'll add Darcy to my list. And I love Imogene.
