So, as I went to bed the name Janae popped in my head. WDYT?

I gotta say, I don't like it. But I like the idea of it. My favorite part is the "nay" sound. Anyone have any suggestions of names with that sound in it? Thanks all!

I always thought Anais was pronounced an-AY, (Janae I guess, with out the J) and i loved it..
I think I may have made up that sound though!

Oh, and another favourite of mine is Esme pronounced ez-mee.
But it can also be Esmé pronounced Ez-may.

Esme is beautiful.

Just some trivia for you - there is a character on an Australia TV show (Neighbours) called Janae. Not sure of the spelling, but it is a pretty enough name.

Yeah it does look a bit creative :D Although I went to highschool with a Renee a Danae and a Shenay - all with the -AY sound. Must of been popular in 1984 :D

Esme is possibly my favourite name.. It takes the topspot, then Felicity or Annabel knocks it off. It's up there at the moment though I think!

Janae from neighbours spells it like that- I've never liked the name though, or janelle her on screen mum's name.

I wonder if Janelle chose Janae for the whole 'Jan' aspect.

Lame!

I don't like it, but I read about a girl once called Danae...and I like that better. Even though she pronounced it Dah-nah-ay, I suppose without the accent on the 'e', it can be pronounced as Da-nay as well.

Janae is actually my best friend's middle name. Her first name is Madison.

I believe Anais is pronounced Ah-nah-EE ;)
But I can see why you figured it might be 'ay'!

it was one of two names i thought of when my son was born... well, when we thought he was a girl LOL. i was going to use either Jenae or Jaielle/Jael as a middle name, because i wanted to somehow combine my grandfather & cousins names. (his is James... hers is Danielle, nickname Denae)

I used to be in love with a pop group, Play lol, and the girl in the group pronounced it uh-NAY-ess. I've also heard it prounounced an-ees though, too.

I think Janae sounds trashy (it doesn't help that there is a white trash character on Australian TV called Janae). I used to know a Genaya. Gorgeous kid - bad name!

Come on, Janae isn't white trash! She's just a very young divorcee trying to make the best of her situation with a new family (involving a shady boyfriend and his son whom he's only been reunited with recently), whilst trying to stay in touch with her fantastic family who are money hungry and have no morals, and talk with a broad accent :D Be fair :D :D

Maybe we're both right? =P
I think it's a regional/national thing...In France (and here) they pronounce it like Ah-nah-EE, as far as I know, and in England or the USA, they probably pronounce it like An-eye-is or ah-nay-is or whatever. =)
