Someone at work today had a new baby named "Breckin"...

yeah I don't so much like it.

Once knew a kid named Brackenbridge. And they called him... Brackenbridge. Poor little three year old... we called him Bracken, which he actually seemed to respond to.

Makes me think of Brechin in Scotland. Also, "break-in".

Is it pronounced bree-kin or breh-kin?

Either way, I think it looks awful as a name.
