What do you all think of the name Ianto? Pronounced YAN-toe, by the way.

It's a Welsh name and according to behindthename a nickname for Ifan which is the Welsh form of John.

Do you think people will immediately think of the television program Torchwood? One of the main characters is Ianto Jones. And yes that is where I got the name from.

Also any middle name suggestions?

For what it's worth, I've never even heard of "Torchwood," so that certainly wouldn't be a problem with me.

I have no idea as to its popularity, but I think it's safe to assume that within a few years, particularly once it's off the air, not that many people are going to remember antyhing as specific as character names.

My mind immiedately went to Torchwood, but that's because I watch BBC America regularly. Honestly, I think it's where you live. In the UK, they'd probably be a lot more likely to go to Torchwood than in the States...unless you're weird like me.

As for the name, I like it -- but I like the character, too, so I'm kind of biased.

yea, my mind went straight to Torchwood too. i agree with moldycelery, it depends on where you live cause i'm from the states too, but i too watch bbc america.

and i love the name because i love the character.

I immediately thought of Torchwood, too, but I'm a big Doctor Who/Torchwood fan and I watch BBCA, also. I'm pretty much the only person I know who does, though, so no one else I know would think Torchwood when they heard Ianto if that helps.
