family names
Dec. 15th, 2007 08:52 pmI can't remember if I posted these yet. My future (far-off future) names for possible son and daughter:
Boy: Lucas Konner
I love Lucas, Luca and Luke. Konner is my last name and I'd like it to be a boy's middle name. I'm not mispelling Konner to be cool, lol. It's of Germanic/Eastern European origin rather than the Gaelic Conner/Connor.
Girl: Clare Lynnea/Linnea
Clare was the name of my great grandmother and a family name in general. It was almost one of my middle names, but my parents decided to stick with just one middle name, which is Lynn (my mom's middle name, also). Lynn is Gaelic, which is perfect because my mom's side of the family has a mixed British heritage. I like Linnea as a name quite a bit, pronounced Lih-NAY-ah, rather than Linya or Lih-NEE-ah, because the "aye-ah" sound is similar to some Hebrew female names like Leah, and my dad's side is entirely Jewish. Plus, it's a flower name, albeit not a very well known one. I love flower names.
I don't know if I want to spell Linnea the traditional way, which I believe is with an i, or in a way that would match it to my own names. I have quite a few years to decide, plus a partner to find, and then I have to convince him to let me name the babies whatever I want. :D
What do you think?

Date: 2007-12-16 01:23 am (UTC)Claire Linnea sounds good, but both names leave me feeling a litle bored. Linnea sounds like washing detergent to me.
