I work with this girl named Fenicks. I had no idea she spelled it this way until I got a close look at her name tag today. o_o I thought it was Phoenix all this time.

So it's pronounced like Phoenix? I keep pronouncing it like the Russian word for 'phoenix', which is Feniks (prn. Finn-icks).

Oh, that is dreadful. I didn't realise what it was until you'd written Phoenix. I think Phoenix is bad enough but then you go and spell it wrong? Ew.

it reminds me of 'fennec', the desert fox.
I much prefer Phoenix. But does she pronounce it the same? Because her spelling makes me want to read it 'fen-ix'

I was going to say huked on fenicks.

Oh, man, please tell me I didn't actually say that. Or even think it.

That's Welsh, although spelt wrong :)
'Dafydd (DAH-vith) dearly beloved; Welsh form of David'

I just checked, and he does spell it Dafydd, I was remembering the spelling wrong (I didn't know him well, hehe). Glad that it's an actual name, I figured his parents were just being cute :).

He pronounced it David, though, not Dah-vith. At least professors called him David, and I never heard him correct them :).

Fair enough! I like the name, although I don't think I'd ever use it!
