I'm really bad about making lists, mostly in my head. I do it if I'm trying to fall asleep, I do it when I'm in a situation where I can/have to space out, I do it when my mind isn't otherwise occupied enough...while watching TV or uninvolving movies, while showering, or really while doing any menial task that doesn't take much brain power. Mind you, this is all going on somewhere in the back of my mind.
For the last six years or so, the lists have usually involved names (before that it music; before that, movies). So every once in a while, I'll slip into doing it and my brain will scream, "ENOUGH. NO MORE NAMES." Not only do the names I love most sometimes lose their appeal, onomastics itself sometimes seems a little flat.
That's not actually what I meant. I have a definitive list. I have four favorites for each letter for both sexes. The lists I'm talking about are actually just plays on combinations. I make sibsets, put together names for fictional characters, or consider first and middle name combinations, that sort of thing.
The more I think about names I love, the more I love them. Perhaps that's just me, though. Usually because the meaning is special for some reason, etc. Names like that never really lose their value in my mind. But if I just love a name because it's pretty or because I'm going through a "phase" of some sort...yes, those I can get sick of if I think about them too much.
Also, I'll get sick of a name I like if the reason that I think about it so much is because it has become trendy or popular and I hear it EVERYWHERE. Then I think about how sad I am that I can't use the name anymore (because I really don't want to give my children names that are popular or trendy) and pray that by the time I start having kids, the popularity has gone down drastically...haha.

Only sometimes.
