Dec. 3rd, 2007 01:17 pmSomehow the boy and I got on the topic of baby names this weekend and he told me he wants to name his son Declan I could go for that, I suppose. My favourite boy name is Sebastian he said he liked the sound of Sebastian Declan
We're not trying to have kids, of course, we're still in college, but all the same, what do you think of those names? I'd never considered Declan before. His other name choice was Kiernan, mine is Remus.
ps. what do you think of the name Augustine for a girl, pronounced aw-guss-teen

Date: 2007-12-03 06:39 pm (UTC)I also really like Kieran, Kiernan is a little too complicated.
I'm not fond of Remus.
Augustine is really sweet for a girl, but I keep being confused about St. Augustine being a male saint! all french grammar rules would point to it being a girls' name...

Date: 2007-12-03 06:58 pm (UTC)not a big fan of kiernan or remus.
augustine sounds very theatrical to me and i would hope the last name would match. something like miller or johnson following this name would be funny, hehe.

Date: 2007-12-03 07:18 pm (UTC)I don't like Kiernan at all, and that gaelic trendy vibe to it..
Remus is cool but oh dea the HP references!
I don't like girls names that end in -ine usually. i think they sound really dated. Ausgstine is too religious for me.. reminds me of Saint Augustin.

I'm sort of neutral on Augustine; it's more formal/dramatic sounding than I would ever use myself, but I certainly don't dislike it.

Date: 2007-12-03 08:25 pm (UTC)My choice would be for Declan Remus.
I really hate Augustine, on a boy or a girl. Augusta for a girl and August for a boy aren't bad, but Augustine sounds way too masculine for a girl and too much like some Roman Emperor (wow, you can so tell that I'm more of an American History person than World History, haha) or something.

Date: 2007-12-03 11:18 pm (UTC)Usually I associate Augustine with a Roman (re: male) emperor or two. But, I have always loved Augusta on a girl, so I kind of like Augustine. I think especially if it was paired with a really feminine middle name it could be lovely. :)

Sebastian, I'm....not sure on. It's not a BAD name, but not one of my favorites, either.
Remus...just...no. I'm not a fan of naming kids after the Harry Potter books. Unless it's a name you can get away without being obvious. Ronald. Harry. Dean. Seamus. Tom. Peter. Those kinds of names.
