[identity profile] neverstarsburn.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Somehow the boy and I got on the topic of baby names this weekend and he told me he wants to name his son Declan I could go for that, I suppose. My favourite boy name is Sebastian he said he liked the sound of Sebastian Declan
We're not trying to have kids, of course, we're still in college, but all the same, what do you think of those names? I'd never considered Declan before. His other name choice was Kiernan, mine is Remus.

ps. what do you think of the name Augustine for a girl, pronounced aw-guss-teen

I love the name Kieran, but I have a friend with the last name Kiernan, and I can't really imagine it as a first name. Maybe that's because I usually call him Kiernan, though, to distinguish him from the bajillion other people in my life with his same first name. This has also led to lots of stupid nicknames, like Kiernor. So, yeah, I guess I just kind of view it as part of a running gag.

I really like both Sebastian and Declan but not so much together :/
I also really like Kieran, Kiernan is a little too complicated.
I'm not fond of Remus.

Augustine is really sweet for a girl, but I keep being confused about St. Augustine being a male saint! all french grammar rules would point to it being a girls' name...

I consider Augustine to be a boy's name.

i like both, sebastian and declan. combined, i would prefer declan sebastian (last name).
not a big fan of kiernan or remus.
augustine sounds very theatrical to me and i would hope the last name would match. something like miller or johnson following this name would be funny, hehe.

Sebastian Declan is fabulous.

I don't like Kiernan at all, and that gaelic trendy vibe to it..

Remus is cool but oh dea the HP references!

I don't like girls names that end in -ine usually. i think they sound really dated. Ausgstine is too religious for me.. reminds me of Saint Augustin.

I love both Sebastian and Declan, but I think they sound better reversed, especially with your boy's last name.

I don't really like Kiernan or Remus, but Kieran is nice.

I'm sort of neutral on Augustine; it's more formal/dramatic sounding than I would ever use myself, but I certainly don't dislike it.

I love Declan! I'm not a huge fan of Sebastian, and I think it's become much more popular, but Sebastian Declan isn't bad, although the repeating -an endings might be a little much.

My choice would be for Declan Remus.

I really hate Augustine, on a boy or a girl. Augusta for a girl and August for a boy aren't bad, but Augustine sounds way too masculine for a girl and too much like some Roman Emperor (wow, you can so tell that I'm more of an American History person than World History, haha) or something.

Love Sebastian. Love it. Declan reminds me of Deacon, which is not a good thing in the pacific northwest, but that is just personal.

Usually I associate Augustine with a Roman (re: male) emperor or two. But, I have always loved Augusta on a girl, so I kind of like Augustine. I think especially if it was paired with a really feminine middle name it could be lovely. :)

Sebastian Declan is adorable. I like that better than Kiernan and Remus.

And I LOVE Augustine for a girl. =)

I like Declan. I don't like Augustine for a girl, but I like August for a boy.

I like both the names Sebastian and Declan but I don't think they go together very well because they both end in "an".

Nope... Augustine is definitely a male name. Think St. Augustine.

I like Declan in theory, but when I say it outloud...my tongue is trying to trip all over itself.

Kiernan I don't like at all. It's bulky, plus that tongue tripping on itself think.

Sebastian, I'm....not sure on. It's not a BAD name, but not one of my favorites, either.

Remus...just...no. I'm not a fan of naming kids after the Harry Potter books. Unless it's a name you can get away without being obvious. Ronald. Harry. Dean. Seamus. Tom. Peter. Those kinds of names.
