I'd like to use the name Henry for a future child. However, I'm not sure I'm in love with the name enough to use it without a nickname. I mean, I *like* it, but I'd like to have other options as well, you know? Luckily, I am totally in love with the names Huck and Hank, which are both acceptable nicknames for Henry. I like Huck a lot, especially on a little boy, but I like Hank almost as much, and I think Hank sounds better than both Henry and Huck on an adult. (Using *just* Hank or *just* Huck as a formal name is out of the question for me; I refuse to give my kids nicknames as formal names).

A few people have commented that they dislike these particular nicknames for Henry, and while I'm still relatively sure that these would be the ones I'd use, I'm wondering what others you can think of that could be used for Henry? I like Harry on a little kid, but it sounds sleazy to me on an adult for some reason (don't ask me why; I don't understand it either) and as I'm at the age where most of my child's classmates' parents will be former Harry Potter fans, I'd prefer to avoid the "Oh my God, I loved those books!" references when I introduce my child. I liked the books and I am 100% okay with literary names, but I'd prefer that my kids have names that are actually literary and not just names from a book that had decent writing and a good story that I enjoyed at 15, you know? (On that note, I don't mind people thinking of Huck Finn when they hear the name Huck)

So...nicknames for Henry?
