I still really like the name Temperance Joy for a girl, but in case I don't like the fact that I got it from a TV show, any suggestions on middle names to replace Joy. I'm still really sold on Temperance (or Temperence). Speaking of...which spelling do you prefer?

I think this is one of those instances where going with an "alternative" spelling would just make you look like you don't know how to spell. Temperance (with the "a") is the *actual* way to spell the word. So definitely stick with that.

I really like the way Joy sounds with it, so maybe other one-syllable middle names?

June
Anne
Jane
Faye
Eve
Rose
Kate

I prefer the proper spelling of the word, Temperance.

Joy doesn't fit quite right with it to me, considering they're both virtue names. It reminds me of names like Ruby Jade. When I hear them, I want to say, "So...which is it?"

As the above poster said, I'm bad with middle names. Something short definitely seems like a good idea, though, considering the length of the first name.

Temperance, like the word.
I think it's hard to come up with a middle name for a name that is also a word.. other obvious word names would make it tacky, imo.
I'd suggest an adjective, like a color.
Like Temperance Scarlett, for example.

Temperance. If you're going to go with a word name, you should spell it correctly.

I'm not a fan of the name, although I do like Joy. But you're set on using Temperance, I'd go with a non-word name for a middle, because otherwise she'll sound like a Puritan, lol.

Temperance Ann
Temperance Jane
Temperance Danielle
Temperance Samantha
Temperance Rebekah
Temperance Margaret
Temperance Louisa
Temperance Nadine

Like the other responders said, definitely go with Temperance, like the word is spelled.

I also think Joy is probably not the best middle name, simply because I don't think joy should ever be tempered. The two words just don't really go together...

But I do think (depending on your last name) you should have a one-syllable middle name:

Belle
Anne
Brooke
Dawn
Faye
Gail
Jane
Lark
Paige
Lynn
Mae
Pearl
Rose

I can't speak for anyone else, but my middle name is Joy and I HATE it. I have a pretty bad case of depression, which was evident in high school, and my friends found it pretty funny that my middle name was Joy. To this day I say (jokingly) that I was cursed by my middle name.
