It's a Roman mythology name. Wife of Cupid, I think.

all it says in the book is: Psyche, meaning: The soul, origin: Greek.

they don't have any in depth meanings or anything. also, some of the meanings for names are definitely not what you see as meanings today.

Yup. And I've loved it ever since reading C.S. Lewis's "Till We Have Faces," a novel that retells the myth of Cupid and Psyche. It's a fantastic novel, and Psyche is a very interesting character, beautiful and innocent and brave. I would consider using it as a middle name because of that character, if I had the right first name and they fit well. And it's pronounced "Sy-key," if that helps. Maybe still a little too "eeee," but no more so than names like Chloe and Zoe.
