I sort of like it. I never had an opinion though until watching "The Girls Next Door" and liking Hugh Hefner's girl friend Kendra. That may not be the best vote for the name.
See, I've never really had that reaction to the name, so I'm kind of wondering where that comes from. I've always thought it was old and classy; I've only ever known one person named this, but I've seen it in literature and it struck me as a nice name.
It seems trashy to me too, but I'm not sure why. I did go to school with a girl named Kyndra (but pronounced KENdra..) that was pretty trashy, but I didn't like the name before I met her. =/
The name of Dumbledore's mother wasn't revealed until book seven, though. So if that's where the popularity comes from, it can't have been popular for more than about, oh, 4 months.
Kendra has always seemed really lovely to me. :-) I've never thought of it as being associated with pagans in any way. Nor have I thought of HP as being associated with them either.
i don't like it. seems trashy to me, and it gets lost in the mess of trendy k names like kaylee and kaden. and i can't get over the "ken" part. seems so masculine, and plastic barbie doll-ish. what about sandra?
I agree, I never got trashy trailer park from Kendra. Even with all these other people saying it, I just don't get that vibe. *shrugs* FWIW, I really like the name. It's youthful yet classic.
Haha, my first reaction, too. She was Jamaican (I think) and had a stake called Mr. Pointy. She was rather adorable, though, so I have no negative reactions to the name as a result. It's not my favorite, though.

Aside from that, it's an okay name.
