[identity profile] girlsknowbest.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
so here i sit, with 3w2d remaining til i'm due and can you believe i still don't have a baby name? i'm just going to straight up ask for help here, ok?

these are the things that are important to me in a baby name:

-popularity, it shouldn't be ranked high on the SSN list. so names like Sophia, Lily, Ava are out for me...as they're all in the top 10. but i do love all of them, so maybe you have an idea of my "taste"

-unique, it shouldn't be too plain. no offense, but while Mary, Jane and Ann are classic names, they don't "POP" enough for my tastes.

-uneek, it shouldn't be too uneek. i don't want my daughter confused for one of frank zappa's children...so Diva, Moon, Dweezil are out. but thanks.

-tough, i really like tough names on girls. if i had it my way, i'd name my daughter a unisex name like Elliot, but that name simply sounds horrible w/ my last name, so it's out. I do want something strong, though. Something that makes you think of a "sturdy" lady. Tegan, Scotia, Wren, Georgia, are all those kind of names for me and have all been vetoed by my dear husband.

-matchy/matchy, my 9y/o daughter's name is Isabel Lark. Mind you please that 9 years ago, Isabel wasn't ranked on any name lists but has since grown popular. We call her Izzy mostly, but I don't want any rhyme time names w/ Isabel, so Isadora, Anabell, Abigail, Isla are all out for me.

So if you have a few minutes and you've read my criteria, what name would you suggest? I really appreciate you reading this, if you're still reading this.

TIA!! Seriously.

(edit: oh yeah, duh, it's a girl incase you couldn't figure that out)

I always thought that Casey was kind of a spunky name for a girl.

I also like Molly. We were going to use that name for our little one, but we saw a penis on the ultrasound! =) We're saving it for the next one.

Charlotte isn't in the top 100, but I think it's close.

Those are the name my husband vetoed, but I ended up having boys anyway :(

Eleanor. The tough thing makes me think that. I prefer feminine "tough" names and not masculine "tough" names because I don't think that someone has to be masculinized to be tough, you know what I mean? I guess that's why I hate unisex names so much.

What about...
Morgan
Lena
Eden
Casey
Ivy
Arden
Sydney
Ainsley
Alexandra (Alex?)
Caroline
Josephine/Jocelyn (Joey?)
Maren/Marin
Audrey
Dalaney/Lane
Charlotte (Charlie?)

I was thinking maybe something like Alexandra or Josephine or Charlotte where there's a possibility of a "tough" nickname -- Alex, Jo(ey), Charlie.

I'm not sure if that is where she is getting the name from, but Piers Anthony is my favorite author (I geek it out), and he has a series called Xanth..

I just realized I typed Cecily/Cecelia right after someone else! How weird. I didn't even see it.
