Curious names

Here are a bunch of fairly uncommon names I've come across recently, I would like very much to have your opinion on each :) have fun!

BOYS
Merrill - it's a nice name, but reminds me of merrill lynch the finance co.
Blake - this name isn't uncommon where i'm from.. i'm not fond of it..
Dainley - not fond of this name.. makes my tongue twist up because my brain wants me to say "Delaney"
Everett - i love this name, reminds me of rupert everett..
Makai - how would you prn this one? like Mekhi Phifer the actor? if so, i like it..
Keith-not uncommon here.. not fond of it..

GIRLS
Parisa - there was a girl on "the real world" on mtv with this name.. it was prn puh-REE-sa.. not fond of it..
Hersilia - how do you prn this one??
Jayanne - reminds me of Rexanne (someone i know) and Rayanne (a character from a tv show).. not fond of it..
Nae - i can imagine this more as a middle name.. like Mae, Rae, Fae..
Moss - can't imagine this as a name..
Raven - love this name.

Makai = Mah-KAH-ee
Hersilia = Her-SEE-lee-ah

didn't know Rayanne was a tv character :) a friend of mine gave her daughter that as a middle name

Nae reminds me too of Mae, Fae etc, but isn't it weird that it sounds like 'nay'? :P

my boyfriend's name is Merle (prn. like Pearl, but with an M LOL), everyone ALWAYS calls him Merril! i guess i could if his name was spelled Merrle or Merrel, but it's not lol.

i like Everett & Makai.

Nae is my cousin's nicknames, her name is Danielle, but for some reason they always called her Denae, or Nae Nae.

i don't like Moss or Raven... or Jayanne.

Rayanne is the prettier of the three names in my opinion.. It was the name of the best friend of the main character on My So Called Life.. a TV show in the early-mid 90s.. (starring Claire Danes, AJ Langer, and Jared Leto) That show freakin rocked!

Out of your boys names the only one I think is nice is Keith...but I have negative associations with that name so I'm not even fond of it.

I like Parisa (pn Pah-reese-ah) but thats honestly it. sorry

Merrill - This seems like an old woman name to me. (Meryl Streep?)
Blake - Not uncommon to me. I'm fairly neutral towards it.
Dainley - I know a guy named Dane but I've never heard of this. It seems a little girly. Maybe because it reminds me of the word 'Dainty'
Everett - For like 4 years I had a crush on a hockey player named Everett so I'm going to have to say I like it
Makai - I live right by an indian reserve and I swear this is a Cree word. I might be wrong though.
Keith - Very normal name. I wouldn't name my kid that but it's not weird to me.

Jayanne - Red neck name
Nae (japanese actress Nae Yuuki) - It's pretty. But it's the sound a horse makes.
Moss - Gross name
Raven - I don't like this name. Whenever I think of this name I think of a 13 year old girl who's decided she hates being named Ashley/Jessica/Stephanie and wants everyone to call her Raven. lol

i like merill, everett, and keith from the boys' list.

from the girls' list i only like parisa and raven. i almost never prefer a creative spelling over a conventional one, but i know a girl named raevyn, and i must say that i actually like that spelling better.

I like Keith and Blake. I'm kind of ambivalent about Jayanne; it seems a bit trashy. I like Raven, but it's kind of like ensuring that your child will grow up to be a goth. I don't like any of the other names.

A girl in my class was names Parisa... she was annoying which taints that name for me.
Also, Parisa sounds like a contraceptive in Germany. It's as if you'd name your kid condom /=

Merrill - Makes me think of Merril-Lynch. Haha.
Blake - I like it. I always think of William Blake, the poet. And I know a guy named Blake who's pretty awesome, so it has good associations for me. :o)
Dainley - Eh...kinda wierd to me.
Everett - I like it.
Makai - Interesting. Kinda sounds like Macaw, haha. But I like it.
Keith - Eh, I've never liked this name too much. It always makes me think of Quiche, haha.

GIRLS
Parisa - My old roommate's name is Parisa (pronounced Pah-REE-sah). It means "fairy-like" or "angel-like" in Farsi. She's Iranian, so it works. :o) I think it's a beautiful name.
Hersilia - It sounds like a venereal disease to me, hahaha.
Jayanne - Eh, sounds like a cross between Jason and Cheyenne to me. Don't really like it.
Nae - Meh.
Moss - All I can't think of is Kate Moss, haha.
Raven - I love this name, but it will forever be connected to the actress and Disney show in my mind.

Everett - another uk connection, not bad
Makai - nice name if the person's looks match. sounds hawaiian/asian to me so would be weird on somebody else
Keith - boooring. and every single keith ive known has been gay. not that thats a bad thing. :]

Merrill: It makes me think of Meryl Streep as well. It's weird on boys, I think, and this spelling is ugly!
Blake: Not a fan. When you say it out loud, it is exactly the Dutch word for 'pale', so no =P
Dainley: Alright. Never heard this one before!
Everett: A little surnamey, but not bad.
Makai: I'm not sure about this one. It has to be some kind of ethnic looking person to pull that off, I think ;)

Moss: Kate Moss is the first thing that pops into my mind. I don't like moss for a name.
Raven: I'm a sucker for this one. I think it's so beautiful and cute, but I'd never use it. It has something gloomy, too =P
