What do y'all think of when you hear the name Drusilla?

I think it's really pretty, but it makes me think of Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Drusilla, which makes me think of vampires and insanity and torture and goth subculture. If few other people get those connotations, though, I feel like it would make me feel better and I could add it to my list.

Anyway, thoughts?

In the Baby-Sitters' Club Little Sister series w/ Karen, she thinks her neighbour is a witch named Morbida Destiny, and Morbida has a granddaughter named Drusilla.

It makes me think of dinosaurs. Don't ask me why. It's what I thought of when I read the name.
I think it sounds rather ugly. But then again, I dislike all names that end in -illa.

I definitely get the Buffy connotation. I think its a really hideous sounding name too, only really fit for evil vampires.

I always felt that Drusilla's name was chosen because they didn't want kids too many people to be offended who had the name. Same with Cordelia. Because the show was relatively popular when she came in and if they had named Drusilla something like Amanda or Samantha or Nicole at the time then there would have been a lot of teasing.

I don't like it and it's generally used in popular culture as a name for people who aren't that nice.

Are you saying that you want people to think that when they hear the name?

It was also the name of Caligula's sister (I don't know how you actually spell Caligula...) he had an incestuous relationship with her, all pretty creepy...

I definitely definitely definitely think of Buffy, and even if there wasn't a Buffy character named that, I'd think it was kind of a creepy sounding name.

In the Disney cartoon the stepsister's name was actually Drizella.

No, I definitely WOULDN'T want people to think those things. I think the name Drusilla is pretty, and Drusilla was one of my favorite characters on BtVS, but because of her the name tends to have connotations like "vampire", "goth", and "evil" for me. I was hoping that other people wouldn't have such connotations, but they do, so I won't be adding the name to my list.

I think of Drusilla on Buffy and Drucilla on Young and the Restless. I don't like the name no matter how you spell it but I think Dru is a nice nickname.
