[identity profile] anaphylexis.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames

In general I'm not a fan of common names for girls. So no Jessica, Jennifer, Ashley, Amanda.... Anyway I was watching TV and apparantly Sara Ramirez from Grey's Anatomy's first name isn't pronounced the way most people would say it. It sounds more like Sir-rah, which I kinda like. So any suggestions on spelling Sara (or Sarah) so that it would be pronounced that way? I'm not looking for anything way out there (no Justyn instead of Justin type thing).

She's Mexican (or at least Latino, I think) and Sara's the Spanish varient of Sarah. She pronounces it Sah-rah, not Sir-rah -- if you want it pronounced Sir-rah, why not Sera or Sira? Of course, Sira could easily be teased by being called Sirrah...but that's a strictly Shakespeare sort of thing.

I actually know a woman named Cirie - pronounced Sear-ri. So maby Cira, or Seera?

you say it with the rolled Rs... *points to icon* hahha. so it's like... Sah-rah kind of.

you could just spell it Sara & pronounce it that way. i'm sure Sara Ramirez corrects people on the pronunciation of her name.
