Nov. 9th, 2007 08:14 pmI got two questions, both related to nicknames/short names.
I personally like short names (one or two syllables), but it appears that in English, a lot of short names, especially on girls, are nicknames. So...
1. Can you guys come up with more one syllabic girl's names? I could only come up with Jane, June, Joan, Lane, Maeve, May, Rae, Lee, Faye & Anne.
2. Is giving nicknames a particularly English-speaking-country thing? Or does it happen in other countries/cultures as well? Because here it's quite uncommon. Possibly because a lot of Dutch names are just very short. It's interesting =)
