What are you thoughts on the name Hugh? It's my friends kids middle name (Joshua Hugh). I'm not so big on the name but it could be just because it's paired with Joshua and I think Joshua is too overused.

Definitely don't like Hugh. My first thought is of Hugh Grant, with his annoying, lop-sided smile, and my second thought is of Hugh Jackman, whose name, particularly when intoned in movie trailers, never fails to make me giggle.

Those associations aside, I suppose I'd just view it as a bland name I might expect to see on an old Englishman.

I like it, but that may just be because it's my father's name :)

I LOVE the name Hugh. My friend's name is Hugh Michael, and I've always really liked it. It's not common, but it's also not totally off the wall, so I like it a lot.

Reid was his surname, but it's a pretty awesome given name too.

I don't really watch any current TV shows, so I always associate him with Sense and Sensibility, which is where I first noticed him.

To me, Joshua is one of those names that is used SO MUCH but isn't overdone, and probably never will be.

Hugh - I think of Hugh Laurie, Hugh Jackman and Hugh Grant. I love both Grant and Laurie, so I like the name/association.

It's very British to me, though. lol
