[identity profile] betsyfoofoo.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Hello everyone =) My name is Betsy, I'm just about 35 weeks pregnant with a girl and still haven't picked a name yet. I do, thankfully, have it down to two names:

Sienna Elizabeth
-or-
Nora Elizabeth

I favor Sienna just a little over Nora and of course my boyfriend likes Nora. My friends and family also seem to be split on which they like more. I *really* don't want her to have a popular name. I've checked the social security website and neither of them are high on the list for 2004 and beyond, but I just worry haha I've decided myself that I'll be making the final decision...which would be great if I could just decide!!

Which name do you all like best?

I say definitely Nora, I can just picture her being called Burnt Sienna her entire school career (after the crayon).

Sienna has much more of a trendy flavor than Nora. I think they are both moving up the popularity charts, but Sienna is likely to go higher. If you are that much against popular I would err towards classic.

nora is a very beautiful classic name.

i definitely prefer nora, sienna will definitely get popular soon if it hasn't already with the fame of sienna miller, so i would stick with nora.

I've always hated the name Nora and Elizabeth.

I love Sienna, I think in England the name will be quite popular soon since Sienna Miller (jude laws actress ex fiancé) has become somewhat of a fashion icon recently... Taking over the Kate Moss title.
But, i definetly prefer Sienna Elizabeth over Nora anyday, Nora feels very old fashioned to me, and not in a 'classic' way.. just old ladie style.

I love the name Sienna, but I think it's more likely to become popular than Nora.
Still, I'd go with the name I liked more. Or you could wait 'til you meet her and see if she looks like one or the other!

I really don't like Nora. It's the kind of old lady name that I would make fun of.
Sienna is a beautiful name.

i like Sienna Elizabeth better but Nora Elizabeth is also beautiful

I prefer Sienna, personally. Nora seems more like an old lady to me, rather than a baby or young girl.

Nora reminds me of a little blonde girl with thick glasses. I'm not sure why tho lol

NORA! NORA!

I don't agree that it's an "old lady" name. This only means it's not trendy.
It's a beautiful name that has history behind it, while Sienna is definitely trendy - and it will come and go. I think it will be one of those names that will be attached to one generation and fade away. You don't want that!

I agree with you that SIenna sounds more trendy and would be likely to climb the charts higher and faster than Nora. I would go with Nora for that reason.

If I were in your position though, I would probably wait until she was born and look at her to see if she looks like more of a Sienna or a Nora. That could be the deciding factor and push you to the right name.

Nora! Sienna is way too trendy and will sound dated in a few years, like Tammy or Kathy do now.

I like Nora. Like everyone else said, Sienna seems too trendy. It also sounds too much like Sierra, another uber-trendy name.

i like sienna more, but it seems like it's getting popular. i haven't heard of nora getting popular at all, so you might want to go with that.

I think Sienna is cute, I'm not too keen on Nora though.

I think I'd have to agree, I prefer Sienna...which is a really pretty name by the way. Nora is a bit old and daggy styles. (Though an alternative spelling could be Norah, which I think is nicer)

My middle name is Elizabeth!

:-)

I like Nora better also.

I love Nora. Sienna's probably going to become really popular everywhere, and it's pretty close to Sierra, which is already pretty popular.

That's a tough one- I think that Sienna Elizabeth is prettier, but I'm more apt to go with Nora Elizabeth because it's more classic. I worry that Sienna will sound dated very fast; especially with it's association to Sienna Miller

While I like Sienna, I'm with a lot of people in that it's going to be one of those "trendy names."

I'd go with Nora.
