So.

I was bored last night and was looking up babynames on babynames.com when I thought,"Hey.I bet theres a LJ for baby names". And yup. I was right!
lol.


I guess I will do a little intro about me!

My name's Holly. I'm 19 (will be 20 in 1 month!). My boyfriend,Nick and I have been dating for 4 years and 6 months. We want to get married and have kids in the near future.

We talk about baby names ALOT.
I like "out there" names..lol. But I also like tradional names too.
-Here are what we have come up with.

Boys
----
*Kaden Nicholas
*Journey (have not come up with a middle name yet. lol. Its kind of hard to pair Journey with another name. But I REALLY love the name Journey)

Girls
------
*Mikayla Rose
*Joseyln Rose (my b/f came up with these names..her really likes these)

So..whadda think?
Also Any help with a middle name for Journey would be grreat!

I'm not one (meaning I wouldn't name my children them) for different spellings, and "modern" names but I love the name choices you picked out.

I love Kaden and Mikayla both.

When do you plan on getting married? I just got married this summer, and planning was so much fun! :)

I love the names you've picked out. Nicholas is my husband's name and I really want to name at least one of our kids Nicholas but he hates it! So far we have 2 kids (Tristan Alexander and Skylar Nichole) and trying to have #3 but no luck yet! hehe
I like Journey too but like you, i cant seem to come up with anything to go with it!

First, welcome to the community!

How do you feel about popular names? Would you want your kids to have a popular name and share their name with other kids in their school, or would you want their name to be unique? I'm only asking because the names you've chosen are very popular right now (Kaden/Caden, Mikayla, and Nicholas).

Some people like to choose those names to their kids don't have a "weird" name and other people don't want their kids to share their name, so it's something to think about.

i love the names you picked out...my husband and i last night decided to name our new child Lucas Alexander...our daughter's name is Jaeda Victoria

anyways...Journey Kyle doesn't sound too bad...think of common names to pair up with Journey - i know you said you don't like common names but it might work with Journey

other thing...think about how the child would feel and if kids would make fun of the name...you could name him Journey Sebastian or something else uncommon and use the middle name as his name

Welcome to the community, but...
honestly, I don't like any of the names you've picked. Kaden is a very trendy name, but I don't think it's a name that transitions to adulthood very well. Can you imagine someone annoucing President or Judge Kaden ______? I know I can't.
I'm also not a big fan of alternative spellings. Why not Michaela or Jocelyn? To me it just seems like being different for the sake of being different. And Journey, well... I like people to have "people names." But that's just me I guess.
On the upside, I think both of your middle name choices (Rose and Nicholas) are nice, and I wouldn't mind either of your girl names too much if you spelled them normally.

I know noone named either.

I also don't understand the concept of "People Names"..if you own your name then it will work.

Well I am not surprised that you at least like them since you would like to name your children those names. That said, you asked for opinions and I gave mine.
But trust me that Kaden is a hugely popular name right now. Journey isn't, but that's probably for a reason.

Kids will find a way to make fun of any name though. If he goes by Sebastian, they'll call him the crab from the Little Mermaid. Kids can be cruel, and if it's not the name, it's something else. I don't think Journey is any worse than Lyric or any of the other real-word names people have said on here. I think they're unique and pretty, even if they take some getting used to.

I agree, and Michaela looks to much like Michael-a. It doesn't look like it would be pronounced the way it is. Plus I like for a girl to have a name that doesn't look like a diminutive of a boy's name, it makes it more unique to them.

That's cool that you would use that as a name. I'm all about the weird names and stuff. Hehe.

Uhm, the only thing I could come up with (in terms of middle names) is like a single-syllable name, like Journey Blake, Journey Cale, and so on.

But thats not why I chose that as a name. I chose that as a name b/c of the journey that my b/f(husband when we have kids) and I will have gone thru to have him.

Kaden Nicholas - It's fine, I prefer the Caden spelling, but this is ok. I agree it is very common. And much more so if you also consider the commonality of Jayden/Hayden/Aidan etc. (You may not know any now, but use it and I swear you will hear it everywhere you go. Just something to keep in mind. Your kid will not spend there whole life within the group of people you happen to know now.)

Journey - I like it, but I think I might prefer it as a girl's name. Girls seem to handle "different" names a little better. Boys get more grief for stuff like that. I'd use a pretty traditional mn, just should he end up wanting that option.

Mikayla Rose - Don't care for it. Mikayla is a very trendy name that's on its way out I think. It already sounds dated to me. (Think of the way a 70s name like Tammy or Tracy sounds now. That'll be Mikayla in a few years. Stale.) Rose is the mn of about every third girl born these days, that or Grace. I'd prefer something more special as a mn to give the combo a little more pop.

Joseyln Rose - I do love the name Jocelyn. Are you pronouncing it different with the S in there? And was the end part a typo with the y and l switched? Weird spellings are a headache. Get used to spelling it for *everyone* if you go that route.

I know a cute little girl named Jocelyn Acadia -- I think it's such a beautiful combo.

Not thrilled with the whole kaden, jayden, aiden (etc) thing. But that's just me! Nicholas is a great name! First or middle.

Journey is definetly different, and might be a good choice (just gotta get that middle name nailed down!)

I love both of the names you have for a girl, tho I'm a little more partial to Joseyln. I think it's such a pretty name.
