I had a friend in high school named Sterling. How do you feel about that? I kind of like it.
What about Clay? I met a kid named Clay Sterling today, and that's what reminded me of Sterling.

I like Clay, but I prefer it as a nickname for Clayton. Clay by itself seems kind of incomplete, whereas Clayton has a more...complete and cowboy-ish tone to it. I really like it, actually.

Sterling is okay, but it seems like more of a last name to me. It also wouldn't be horrible as a middle name, I guess, but I always think of sterling silver jewelry, haha.

One of my good friends is called Clay... it's not short for anything and he hates people asking if it's short for Clayton!

My boyfriend's best friend IS called Clayton and hates being called Clay.

I don't particularly like Clay or Clayton. It has no appeal whatsoever to me.

Sterling is ok, never really heard it before. Only Sterling Mortlock, a wallaby for Australia =P

I know a really hot guy called Clay so that helps me like the name!! I'm not a fan of Sterling. It could be because there is a place near me called Stirling so I think of that.

I'm not fond of Sterling. I've only ever heard it on Sterling Marlin and I never liked it...makes me think of sterling silver...not something I'd want to name a baby.

I do like the name Clay, though, kind of. It's just not one I'd personally use.

I had a teacher in high school named Sterling. His last name is Hook. Yeah. Sterling Hook.

He was a pretty awesome teacher though :) And I don't mind Sterling, but don't think I'd use it.
