[identity profile] crzydimond.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Since there has been an enormous recent growth in the number of people who are bashing their heads against their computer keyboards and naming their unfortunate offspring with whatever jumble of letters comes up....

I was wondering, what are your very very hated, least favourite kry8tif and made up names?

EDIT: I should add, if I personally see anymore kids named Kayden, Braidyn, Shaydon, Jaedyn, Trisyfhdseeeayden....I may projectile vomit onto my computer screen.

My most hated names are:

- Shaquaida
- Latisha
- Deejon
- Tayline

All of these are from real people I've met. They are between 5-10 years old.

Most of the names I loathe are not creative names.

Not really kre8tyf, but I hate Designer names on kids. There's this girl on my bus named Chanel, which makes me want to puke.

Hate the millions of spellings of Caden (Kayden, Kaidon, Caydin, etc.) and any name with apostrophes.

I hate the butchering of nice, classic names the most. Kayden, Braidyn, etc. are awful, but I hate Caden and Braden anyway, so I guess I just...expect to hate the name.

Mykal (Michael), Emylee (Emily), and Mikayla (Michaela) are the worst to me. Those are all great, wonderful, fantastic names, and despite their popularity, there's NOTHING wrong with them. And yet people still seem to think that they need to make them "unique." Which is LAME.

I can't think of them all, but my most hated one at the moment is Meagh'n, possibly because Meg/Megan is one of my favourite names and seriously wtf who puts an appostrophe in there?!

I knew a Chanelle, and she was the sweetest kid EVER. I can't imagine a different name on her.

RANT

THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS POST!!!

I hate all bastardized spellings of regular names. Adding "ae" or random "y"s and "h"s will only make your child have to spell out their name for the rest of their life. And teachers will never know how to pronounce them right.

My stepson is named Caeleb.
One of my friends just had a daughter and they named her Jaedyhn.

Seriously, if you don't like the normal spelling of a certain name, then DON'T USE THAT NAME. You don't look creative, you just look like an idiot who can't spell.

I know these two twins with the names:
Abbagale
Emmalee
I detest them

the very very very *WORST* one was Plakenta. (As in placenta.)

But I have only met one little girl with that name (thank god) so I guess I will have to say "Mykul" (Michael) "Dyan" (Diane) and "Kaylub" (Caleb) are the next runners up.

I shudder every time I have to type their names in for attendance. *ugh*

Bayley (also on a girl)
Jaidyn, Jaydon
Laragh (??)
Channelle
Makalia
Jahred, Jarid (I don't mind Jared, Jarrod)
Tyla, Taylor, Tahliah, etc
Kayley, Kayleigh, Kailey, Kahyley

The list really is endless

Of course, the obvious names (do I really gotta type them out AGAIN. Just look at everyone elses responses! lol). And one "normal" name, I CAN NOT STAND.

Lillian.

because this little girl I worked with (when I did daycare) was named lillian and I could not STAND that kid. OMG i couldnt.

I'm a beginning teacher, and already through my practical experience, there are names I will never be able to use for my own children - names that literally bring shivers up my spine beause the kids associated with those names were just... blah!

Not that many of the names are bad.

Some examples: Mitchell, Jackson, Adam, Jack, Jasmine, Amy, Jed

I think so... I read it in the newspaper.

She was the sister (?) of Ahydon and baby Blahze.

Eugh.

I hate the name Jayden. I used to know a Jayden in elementary school (about twelve years ago). He was the most awful kid. He broke my little 6 year old (At the time) cousins ribs by throwing a six inch rail road spike at her. :) This was about seven years ago.

But I love the name Hayden. I've loved it for a looong time. :)

I had an awesome teacher who named her second baby Kaedyn Elijah. She wasn't fond of the name but she let her first child name him.

my daughter, jimi's fullname is kayleigh james b. however, we took kay from my mom and leigh from his mom. i had no idea of the kaylee/kayleigh/caleigh/kalee phenomena at the time. i probably would have named her somehting different. but we call her jimi so it's okay.

in her preschool class last year, there was...

kayleigh
rileigh
kylee
hayleigh
shylee

i'd never heard shylee before

My sister's name. Mailodie. As is Melody spelled by my mom who must have been on crack at the time.
People used to nickname her FedEx because of the Mail in her name.

I am Melissa and my other sister is Mira, so we are cheesy with three M names, but at least two of us are spelled correctly... The name Melody suits her, butr the spelling is not the best, IMO.
