[identity profile] mrs-mumper.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
aw im so excited by this community! my husband and i have only been married for a little over 2 months. but we've been talking about baby names for a year or so now. and we basically have our names chosen.

we dont have any children, and i'm not pregnant and we're not planning on getting pregnant anytime soon. we both want children VERY badly. but as of right now, we are without insurance, and we're not totally financially stable just yet. we're still enjoying being kids ourselves, so we're waiting but we LOVE talking about names!

and of course, every name i come up with, i run it by my mom, hahaha. she always says "well if i hate it, it doesnt matter, it'll be your child!" but it does matter, shes grandma ! if she hates her grandbabies name, thatd be no fun! anyway.

here's what their names will most likely be:

boy:
Maximilian Matthew Mumper
[my husband's name is Matthew, and ive always LOVED his name.
hes not crazy about it, so we chose it as a middle. because i really
DONT like the junior thing]

girl:
Maggie Rayne Mumper

i also really like

boys:

Shane
Alexander
James [my fathers middle name]
David [his father's name]
Frank
Rick

girls:

Theresa
Sharon
Patricia
Doreen [my mothers name]
Elaine [his mother's name]

opinions?

I don't really like Maximillian, but i do like the nickname Max.
I dunno if i like Maggie or not, it seems a little old fashioned to me, but it doesn't matter what i think =)
My favourite name off your other girl names is Elaine but i prefer Elaina (with nickname Laina or Laney)
I like most of the names on your boys list but my favourites are Shane and Alexander, i <3 them!

i love, love, love Maggie Rayne! I know a little girl (about 6 or 7 years old) named Maggie and it fits her so well.

I also really like:
Shane
James

The boys name is too much. All the M sounds, topped with the actual length of the entire name doesn't make it flow well at all in my opinion. I love the sound of Shane Matthew Mumper, and if Shane could be used for our child, we would (our last name ends in -shen, it would sound silly).

Maggie Rayne is beautiful :)

I like Alexander :)

I like older names, but names that sound good on little kids. It's hard for me to picture a little girl named Sharon. I like names like Claire, Jane, Abigail, Laura, Emily, Rebecca, Jessica, etc. They seem more kid-friendly to me. Just my opinion :)

Maggie Rayne is a really good combo. I'd probably give her a full name though that she could use professionally as an adult and use Maggie as a nickname for it.

Maggie Rayne is very cute, and I really like Shane for a boy.

Max is a great name, but its all M's.

I love Maggie Rayne. Triple-M is a bit much for me, but it's a very nice name.

I love 'em all, and I think it's great that you're going with nice old names, instead of all these yooonik ones.

I like the first names but I'm really not digging the alliteration here. Mumper is, pardon me for saying so, not the most serious sounding last name. Add that to the cutesy sound that often comes with alliteration, and it just sounds a little like a cartoon character or something. :( The boys name especially with all Ms is just too much.

I thought the boys name sounded like a character from a Dr. Seuss book! But I actually find myself really liking it. It sounds like someone who is confident and demands attention! (in a good way)

Shane Matthew is my brother's name :) I love it.

I like Maggie best of the girls names. And I wrote what I thought of the boy name under the comment above me :)

Matthew is an awesome name, Love it. Maximilian on the other hand... for the sake of your child's self-esteem, this might not be such a good idea...(no offence)
Shane and James are great names. Maggie Rayne is pretty and Theresa is cute.

Sharon Mumper all the way.

Re: Maggie - Margaret is one of the greatest names because of all the cute nicknames that come with it: Maggie, Meg/Meggie, Peggy...

Oh I mean nobody's going to like not respect someone b/c of their name, heh, I didn't really mean it like that. I guess I just like having the most options available so she could always choose to go by something else. But that's not necessary, of course, my name doesn't have any shortened version to use for it or a nickname, and I'm fine with it, heh.

Does anyone ever use Peggy as a given name and not a nickname? All the Peggys I've met are Margarets.

There's Maxim too. I've seen that used as a formal Max form a couple times.

I know! And the best part about using traditional names for the coming generation is going to, if this community is any indication, make them the only 'William' or 'Anna' in their class. And there will probably be about ten Kaydens per grade.

Yeah, the boobie magazine is a definite down side. I think I prefer just plain ol' Max actually. But I the full name you picked out too. I just thought I'd mention Maxim in case you hadn't heard it before.
