I went with my sister to get my niece's picture taken today. There was a large group of kids there waiting when we got there. Throughout the course of the afternoon, I learned a couple of their names. They were:

Boys:

McCoy (4ish)
Aiden (4ish)
Lathan (3ish)

Girls:

Ryleigh (20 months and it was embroidered on her diaper bag this way)
Sterling (2)

I don't really like any of their names (I do like Riley, but I prefer it spelled that way). The interesting part of the afternoon was when my niece walked over to them and stared at them. She's only 17 months and doesn't talk very much...especially not to people she doesn't know. So, McCoy noticed she was there, and asked her what her name was. My sister said her name was Annabelle and he scrunched up his face and said "That's a weird name!" I've never really considered Annabelle a WEIRD name, but alright. My sister and mom were completely surprised by this. His parents weren't too happy either, they apologized a thousand times. None of us were offended by what he said, he was little and doesn't understand tact...whatever. They pretty much all have interesting names...so I guess it's just the difference there. My weird is their normal and my normal is their weird. I just thought it was interesting.

That reminds me of the first time I heard the name 'Bianca' - I was in grade six, and I couldn't believe that it was a real name.

I like McCoy. If it were a family name I'd consider using it. The nickname 'Mickey' would be kind of cute.

For me, Annabelle will always make me think of the rather depressing Christmas movie. Well, I guess it's not that depressing. It's cute and all. It's just what I think of when I hear that name.

Sterling is interesting.

Is Lathan a legit name? I find it really weird when people change the first letter of a regular name to make a new name.

McCoy - Odd.
Aiden - Super popular.
Lathan - Made up.
Ryleigh - Misspelled.
Sterling - Gender confused.

At least they pulled their names from many different "sources". :P

Hm. What a brat.

Poor kids, why can't they just be named something pretty like Lucas and Victoria?

These are vomit inducing names.

If anything, I like the spelling Reilly, but even so.

The real McCoy! He's dead, Jim!
There's way too much to do with that name

That's interesting indeed! =)
Lol, I imagine those kids going to kindergarden(sp?) and be all like 'Wow, all your names are crazy' in a class full of Ella's, Ava's and Aidan's =P

I used to think Ashley was the weirdest name when I met my first Ashley.

Annabelle is great though, and I love Sterling.

Annabelle's Wish was some movie about a cow who was raised by a little boy who was mute and the cow wished away her ability to talk so that the little boy could talk.

I think that's the story anyways. It's been a long time since I watched it and it scared me a little when I was younger. No idea why. I think I felt for Annabelle losing her voice because at the same time I was losing my hearing.

I thought the same of Tatiana.

It's a lovely name and I like it a lot now but the first time I heard it I was so puzzled.
