Hello all,

What do you think of Jill as a first name? Does it work better short for Jillian, or does it work fine on its own? What middle names do you think would go good with it?

Thanks. :)

*EDIT*

How about Jill/ian Aislin?

I think it works fine either way, but I love the name Jillian, so I'm a little more inclined towards "Jill" as a nickname.
I once knew a girl named Jill whose middle name was Goldie. I always thought that was pretty cool. It suited her, too, she had the most gorgeous hair I'd ever seen, light blonde and curly.

i would name her jillian. it gives her an alternative when she grows up in case she would prefer not to be called jill.

I prefer Jillian. Plus that gives her more options, she can use either that or Jill when she's older. My sis's friend's name is Jillian and she calls her Jilly Bean. It's a cute pet name, it makes me giggle.

I think Jillian is a beautiful name and Jill could be a nickname.
As for middle names, I draw a blank right now.

I think either one works. A longer full name always gives you more options, though, so I'd go with that. My middle name is Audrey, and I always thought it sounded pretty with Jill.

I knew a girl whose name was just Jill. No Jillian, just Jill and it suited her so well.

I like just Jill-not Jillian. But I had a friend in high school whose name was Jillian Meredith...i think that flows pretty well together...

I like Jillian better, plus if she don't like "Jill" she can always of course use Jillian. :)

It can be fine on it's own, without the "ian," especially if you want a name like Aislin to follow it.

Jill Aislin is MUCH better than Jillian Aislin.

I work with a woman who's just Jill, not Jillian, and she likes it just fine.

At first I thought Jillian > Jill. But, I don't know, Jill sort of sounds nice and you always see Jillian and so it's nice to see something more uncommon. But Jill, to me, definitely sounds like more of a nickname, something informal. The connotations of each of the names are pretty different, I think.

My cousin is named Jill Ann, and her sister is Judy Lynn.

I'd definitely go for Jillian, though, because it irks me when parents give their kids nicknames.

I just wanted to point out that if you do choose just Jill, people will probably make the mistake of assuming that her full name is Jillian. My Dad & Grandpa's names are both Pat, and everyone assumes it's short for Patrick, which it's not. I think it gets kindof annoying to them, so I would consider that when deciding. I do, however, like both Jill and Jillian; they're both quite pretty.
