Has a song ever made you like a name more or even less? For me, Rhiannon was killed by the Fleetwood Mac song, but it made me think about other song/name associations that I do like, though not all are names I would use.

Angelina: Bob Dylan
Annabell Lee: folk song
Annabella: John Walker
Arabella : the Kinks
Adia: Sarah Mclachlan
Amadues : Falco (embarrassing, but true)
Eliza : Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
Daria : Cake
Delilah : Queen, the Kinks....and the Plain White Ts but they have been played into the ground
Galileo : the Indigo Girls
Georgia : Ray Charles
Joey : Concrete Blonde
Johnny : Poe
Jude : the Beetles
Juliet : Indigo Girls
Layla : Derek and the Dominoes
Lola : the Kinks
Marlena : the Wallflowers
Mary Jane : Tom Petty
Rosalie : Ryan Adams
Ruby : the Rolling Stones
Sophia : Franz Ferdinand
WDYT?

My name is Kate, and I like the Ben Folds Five song "Kate" except that the girl in the song is NOTHING like me, which makes me a little sad.

I love the song "Alison" by Elvis Costello, but not so much the name. I do like Ameila and the song "Ameila" by Joni Mitchell as well as the name Melissa and "Sweet Melissa" by The Allman Brothers.

I've gotten to love Eliza (Nick Cave ftw :) ), Rhiannon and Ruby even more because of the songs associated with them, but I loved the names to begin with.

If I hear a name that I like in a song, or hear a song that I like in the name, I automatically rule the name off my list, because no song has affected me enough that I'd want to tribute it by naming my child after it... I do the same thing with TV characters and actors. If I "discover" a name through one of those mediums, it automatically becomes unusable to me

I used to hate the name Amanda, but since the Dresden Dolls, I like it more and more =)
I kinda like Joe because there are a lot of cool Joe's out there (Joe Jackson, Country JOE and the Fish etc.)
And I'll sure think of more ;)

It's becoming less and less popular, but...if there is a song with the name Amanda in it, and it starts moving back up with popularity, I feel bad for all the little Amanda's that will be running around, again. It's annoying as all hell when friends start NUMBERING you because there's too many Amandas.

One of the choirs at my high school once sang a song called "Jenny Rebecca". I'd never name my daughter that (mainly 'cause I have a cousin Jennifer) but I liked the way it sounded.

Also, a friend of mine has the name Rebekah Lynn, so she thinks it's kind of cool that there's now a song with that name.

Over all, I can't think of any songs that have made me go "OH! I love that name!"
