I asked a friend for some help in naming a pair of "twin" pets, so she sent me this link to a list of twin names. It's supposedly the top picks for twins, but I really hope some of them aren't used as much as this list says they are. Joshua and Joseph? Taylor and Tyler? Christian and Christopher? Jaden and Jordan? I could keep going on and on for which ones I don't like on there, though there are some I do like as well. What do you guys think? What's the worst?

Beh... I like my sister's twin girls names. Heidi and Gretchen

I don't like names that start with the same letter for twins. I definitely don't like things like Brian and Brianna or Michael and Michelle. And I hate anything that has anything to do with "ayden" names or any variation of.

I'm a ball of bitter tonight. LOL

For pets, I stick with gods or kings and princes. Oh wait, I did for my own son too. Alexander Phillip.

Oh my. Everyone seems to think that matching names need to be names that are almost exactly the same...
The worst, IMO, are names like Taylor and Tyler, because there's almost no difference.
Names like Caleb & Joshua I don't mind. They match. But I don't find it disturbing.

i know a Taylor & Tyler twinset.

i don't think i'd name a twinset with names that could have the same obvious nickname- ie: Christian & Christopher (Chris), Joanne & Joseph (Jo/Joe), Alexander & Alexandra or Alexis (Alex, Lex), Kyle & Kiley (Ky)...
names that were basically the same name, just one masculine, one feminine- Stephen & Stephanie, Kyle & Kiley, Michael & Michelle...
or any names that were too similiar sounding- Madison & Mason, Isaac & Isaiah, Kiley & Kaylee...
or anything too corny- Faith & Hope, Destiny & Faith, Hope & Love,
or rhyming names- Jaden & Kaden, Andy & Randy...

I like matching names as far as meaning is concerned.
For example Irene and Salome, which both mean 'peace', but one is greek and the other is hebrew, or Eva and Zoe (life), or Chandra and Selene (moon).

I am totally aganinst rhyming names for twins, names with the same initial letter and names that are anagrams of each other.

I will never understand why people seem to think twins need matchy names. And some of those are just wrong.

My (asshole) ex-boyfriend had two boys named Tyler and Taylor. They weren't twins. I thought it was ridiculous.

Agreed. Just because they're twins doesn't mean they're not two separate people.

I am currently in the process of naming twin boys. (Those of you who participated in my post with a poll a few days ago are already aware of this!) One name we feel set on is Tyler. I have some friends (and my MOM!) who are adament that if one is named Tyler, the other is supposed to be named Tyson, or Taylor, or at LEAST something with a "T". I don't think so! I don't need to turn my kid's names into some kind of a riddle! "If one half of a twin-set is named Tyler, what is his brother's name?", and have them be able to fill in the blank!

On one of these many LJ communities I subscribe to, someone said it this way. "Giving twins matchy-matchy names is like dressing them alike EVERY DAY OF THEIR LIVES!" :(

I agree with what others have said... they should not come down to the same nickname.... they deserve their OWN name.

That said, do Tyler and Elijah sound too similar? With nn's, could end up as Ty and Eli.... Hmmmmmmm....

I am a twin =)
My name is Daniele Lynn, my sisters name is Stacy Jean

My grandma is a twin, her name is Helen, her sisters name is Hazel (no middle names, too many kids in family and ran outta names! They have a brother named Raymond Ray LOL)

My cousins are twins and their names are Eric and Dawn but I don't know their middle names.. and they are older than me.

My sister and I are the little twins while they are the big twins, lol.

I'll stop, I'm rambling..
